About This Pub
Ah, the Sitwell Arms in Whiston – it's one of those cosy pubs that really pulls you in with its friendly atmosphere and village charm. From what I've gathered from chats with others, the staff are just lovely, always up for a bit of banter and making sure everything runs smoothly, which makes popping in for a drink or a meal feel like catching up with mates. The beer garden is a real highlight on a sunny day, and it's brilliant for watching live sports without the hassle. Plus, being dog-friendly adds that extra touch of homeliness if you're out with your pet. On the food side, the traditional home-cooked options like Sunday dinners get plenty of thumbs up for being comforting and well-prepared, but it's not all perfect – some have mentioned it's a tad pricey and not as consistent as you'd hope, especially since they've ditched the carvery, which was a favourite for many. All in all, it's a solid spot for a laid-back get-together, but keep in mind it might not suit if you're after something truly budget-friendly or reliably top-notch grub.

They show live sports like the Women's Euros, with Sky and TNT Sports, so it's ideal for catching the big games with a crowd.
-
The traditional home-cooked food, like their Sunday dinners, often gets high praise for being hearty and satisfying when it's on point.
Cons
-
Some dishes feel a bit overpriced for the quality, leaving you wondering if it's worth the extra quid.
-
They've stopped offering the carvery, which has disappointed a few folks who were looking forward to that classic roast.
-
There are occasional gripes about the food not quite hitting the mark, like it being a bit underwhelming compared to expectations.

Echoing what has previously been said, the place itself since refurbishment is very appealing to the eye. The food however is very overpriced for the quality served. To our disappointment they no longer offer carvery. We tried the Sunday dinner and was deeply disappointed, it’s basically a replica of an Iceland frozen ready meal. Previous customers I’m sure will agree who’ve had the carvery and the Sunday dinner that’s now being offered is night and day different. I’m unable to comment on the other food, but from witnessing other meals on tables nothing stood out to me convincing me to return.
Superb Sunday dinner. Excellent staff. Fabulous quality and worth the money. We were served by amber and Ellie and they were excellent !
We went for a family meal today. Each and every member commented how lovely the food was. We orders many different meals, we were a large group. The food came out almost all at the same time, which is not usual given the size of our party. The service was great, the staff were friendly and the pub has been renovated well. It’s clean and inviting. We’ll definitely be returning for food over the coming summer. Your staff base is a credit to you, and the quality of the food is high. Not a single bad note from the day!
A lovely Christmas Day carvery enjoyed today. While the pub was busy, it was calm and a very pleasant atmosphere. The food was excellent and service was great. Best of all... no washing up! 👍🏼
