About This Pub

Ah, Dragon's Tap – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its charm, isn't it? From what I've gathered chatting about it, folks really rave about the beers; there's always a fantastic selection of real ales on tap, rotated regularly to keep things fresh and exciting for us beer enthusiasts. The staff stand out too – they're proper friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're looked after, which adds such a nice touch to the whole vibe. And on a sunny day, that outdoor seating is just the ticket for a relaxed afternoon. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; I've heard a few grumbles about damp patches on the walls and in the loos, which isn't ideal and might make you hesitate before settling in for the evening. Prices can sting a bit as well – that £15 for a couple of pints and some snacks adds up quicker than you'd like. Then there's the noise when it gets lively; it echoes something fierce, so if you're after a quiet catch-up, it might not be the best spot. Still, with a solid 4.6 rating overall, it's clear this place has a lot going for it, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just go in with your eyes open to the little niggles, and you'll have a grand time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on – a cracking range of real ales that really hit the spot, with plenty of variety to keep things interesting.
  • The staff are an absolute delight; they're friendly, helpful, and make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got a lovely outdoor area that's perfect for soaking up the sun on a nice day, just watching the world go by with a pint in hand.
  • Overall, it's a welcoming little spot with a great atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in for a good chat and a few drinks.
Cons
  • There are some issues with damp and mould in places, like on the walls and in the toilets, which can put a bit of a damper on the experience.
  • Prices can feel a tad steep – for instance, splashing out over £15 for a couple of pints and snacks might make you think twice.
  • When it gets busy, the noise really bounces around, making it hard to hear yourself think, and it could do with some tweaks to make it more comfortable.

Lovely little pub, great beers & ales to get your taste buds into. The staff are lovely too. The only negative I have is there is a lot of damp & mould on some of the walls & in the toilets.

I have updated my post. Dragons Tap has been established for many years now and is one of the go to places for real ales in the area. There is always a great selection to choose from which are rotated regularly due to the customers enjoying the beer. The staff are brilliant, and there is a real buzz in the evenings and weekends. If you like beer, good company and a good venue to drink. Then Dragons is the place. Busy at times with standing room only. I really like this place, and I am pleased it's still open and doing so well. Well done the Dragons Tap team, keep up the good work.

The only point that let this venue down was cost. Over £15 for 2 pints and 2 bags of snacks. Otherwise good. I need to reply to the owner's response. You have incorrectly identified me, I'm afraid. I only had 1 drink and it wasn't the brand you mentioned. I sat quietly and was rather polite, which I usually am. You have seemingly mistaken my identity.

I love going here. Great beer, nice to sit out on a nice day. One big improvement for me would be some some bench seating around the walls with soft furnishings throughout to absorb some of the noise as when it's busy the noise just bounces off the walls and ceiling making it very loud.
