About This Pub
Ah, the Signal Box Inn – what a charming little find it is, tucked away at Lakeside Station in Cleethorpes. I have to say, it's got this wonderful novelty factor as the world's smallest pub, which just adds to the fun and makes you smile from the moment you step in. Folks rave about the excellent range of beers and the welcoming vibe, with the beer garden being a real highlight on a sunny day – ideal for chilling out with the family or even bringing the dog along. The staff seem to go the extra mile, and events like music nights keep things lively without overwhelming the space. On the flip side, it's such a compact spot that it can feel a bit snug when it's crowded, and going cashless might put off a few who aren't quite ready for that. Still, with its high ratings and that loyal customer feel, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or a quick stop on a day out. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend popping by – it's one of those places that leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling, quirks and all!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's an absolute gem of a spot, being the smallest pub in the world at just 8ft by 8ft – that quirky charm makes every visit feel like a fun adventure.
-
They've got a cracking selection of real ales, lagers, and ciders from all over the country, perfect for anyone who loves a good tipple.
-
The beer garden is a suntrap and a brilliant place to relax, especially if you're out with the family or the dog – it's super welcoming for both.
-
Friendly staff and a buzzing atmosphere, with events like music nights that keep things lively and engaging.
-
There's a loyalty scheme that's a nice touch for regulars, offering discounts and special perks to make you feel right at home.
Cons
-
The tiny size means it can get a bit cosy when it's busy, so if you're after plenty of space, it might not be the best fit.
-
Being a cashless venue, you'll need to have your card or phone ready, which isn't ideal for everyone who prefers to pay with cash.
-
The drink selection is great but on the smaller side, so if you're looking for a huge variety or specific options, you might find it a tad limited.

This tiny little pub is a must visit if you're ever in/near Cleethorpes. The beer is very good, and there's a small but adequate selection of spirits and other drinks. The atmosphere around the pub is buzzing.
Awesome little pub & great service & grandson loved the train ride .suntrap of a garden .efficent friendly staff.runs like a well oiled machine this place ☀️🚂🍻
We love going to Cleethorpes and nearly always go to the Signal Box Inn. From the pier, you can either walk or get the Road Train (£2 each way) you get dropped at the light railway and you can either walk or go on the train. We’ve done both, over the years. It’s only just over half a mile to walk, which is what we decided to do yesterday, as it would have been £18.85 return, for us and the dog. We decided that we’d have a drink at the Inn and still be quids in, rather than go on the train, as we’ve done it before.
The photos show our son getting taller, over the years. The Inn itself, is unchanging apart from the amount of tables outside. It’s very popular and has a great atmosphere. If you are ever in Cleethorpes, you need to visit the Inn - it’s an experience 😊
I relished the opportunity to visit the smallest pub in the world, appreciating its location in a former signal box next to a mini railway too as a train enthusiast! The counter is really good for its small size and the windows have been maintained from the signal box, wall adds coasters as decorations too. I nabbed a quick drink of mango cider, choosing inside although outdoor has plenty of seats for that option!
Day out in Cleethorpes and we were told about the smallest pub in the world so we had to pay a visit.
The Signal Inn pub should be on everybody's day out list.
Great people in the pub, a great selection of beers and spirits. Part of a large complex with at least one other bar a great food hall and we were lucky that they also had live entertainment on stage.
A dog friendly place due to the huge amount of outdoor seating I do not think I've ever seen so many dogs in one watering hole.
We were lucky the weather was great, but there is covered seating available as well and there is plenty of room for mobility scooters and wheelchairs.
Plenty of other parking spaces as well.
The food was very popular and looked very tasty we didn't eat because we were at the start of our pub crawl.
Met a lovely lady called Donna Clifford, who was busy taking photos of the many dogs and drinkers for the Grimsby Flyer.
Must also give a shout out to the landlord and staff who were so friendly and helpful.
