About This Pub
Ah, Scalby Manor, what a gem it is for us pub lovers in Scarborough! I've got to say, it's one of those places that really delivers on the classics – their carvery roasts and stone-baked pizzas are fresh and full of flavour, and at such reasonable prices, it's no wonder it's buzzing with locals. The staff are an absolute delight, always ready with a smile and quick to lend a hand, which makes the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. Plus, with all those daily deals and the rewards app, you're practically getting rewarded just for enjoying a pint or a meal. It's spot on for families too, with plenty of veggie and vegan choices that keep everyone happy. But, let's keep it real, it's not perfect – I've heard a few tales of food not quite living up to expectations, like dry burgers or veg that's a bit too firm, and those extra charges for add-ons can catch you off guard if you're not paying attention. The atmosphere in some spots feels a touch outdated, which might not wow you if you're after something more contemporary. All in all, though, it's a reliable spot for a good time; just go in with an open mind, and you'll likely have a brilliant visit – I'd pop back for another go without a second thought.

Cons
-
Some dishes can be hit or miss, like dry burgers or overly hard veggies, which might leave you a bit disappointed.
-
Watch out for extra charges on things like add-ons for breakfast – it doesn't always match what's advertised online.
-
The decor in certain areas feels a tad dated, so it might not have that fresh, modern vibe you're after.
-
A few folks have mentioned inconsistent service or responses to complaints, which could put a damper on things if you're unlucky.

We had the carvery. My friend had the meat and I had the vegetarian option.
There was a very good selection of many different vegetables available.
All was fresh and hot. I had a latte and my friend had a pint of larger. The latte was much nicer than Costa.
The staff were friendly and very helpful.
The atmosphere was very relaxing and comfortable.
We will definitely be visiting again.
Literally the worst chicken burger I have ever seen, I couldn’t catch my breath. Dry, no sauce, so we complained to who I assume was the manager, I asked if he would be happy to eat this, and I got no response. He offered us the meal refunded onto a gift card for our next visit, but we won’t be visiting again.
Only to then have to call him over again once we realised the chips was also raw! And his response was ‘yes I can see they are raw, but your initial complaint was about the burger’ which I found rude. Didn’t seem to hold any accountability for the poor food my 5 year old son recieved. The carvery’s are hit and miss, sometimes good for the price, other times veg is rock hard. Far better places in Scarborough to visit than here.
Great food, although my preference is for a softer veg and all was hard. Especially the brussels. But the food was delicious.
We was seated in the lower section, it was warm enough but just felt slightly dated. Not dirty or anything, just felt a big old
The staff were very efficient but front of house staff on bar and door shouted to each other a lot which I don't like. I like to feel relaxed not feel like I'm at work
ALL YOU CAN EAT BREAKFAST.....
Really????
The building looks amazing, the food on the other hand doesn't.
The price online says £5.99.... sounds cheap, when you get there it's not this price if you want a coffee that's an extra £2.50 if you want the pleasure of mushrooms that's an extra 50p per scoop so £5.99 is now about £9.00, theres not much option and what is there is greasy and burnt. No wonder this place is empty, no one wants to go back for another plate. I got Belgium waffles, they tasted ok but can't complain when there straight form a packet. No toppings for them tho just ketchup or brown sauce and no plates for them.. you get 1 plate "that's it" they get you this after ordering...... Do they think there going to be Nicked? Or just saving on washing. Won't be going back...... The person behind the counter is nice and polite tho. Thanks.
Delicious selection of food options. The fresh homemade pizza was tasty.
The carvery on Sunday was truly enjoyable.
The young waitress on the, £8.99 for any pizza night on Thursday nights was friendly, professional and helpful. She is should get recognition and credit as a valuable team member of the brand.
Overall a very traditional experience with all you can eat options and hearty portions with a good standard of quality.
Great value all round.
Thanks for your efforts guys and compliments to the chefs.
