About This Pub
Oh, let me tell you about Saracen's Head – it's one of those classic pubs in Worcester that just warms your heart the second you step inside. From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this brilliant lineup of real ales and beers that ale lovers absolutely rave about, and the staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. I love how it's kept that old-school cosy feel with charming decor, making it a perfect spot to unwind after a long day. Plus, with the new landlord shaking things up, it's clearly on the up, with folks saying the atmosphere's improved no end and there's even a nice garden for sunnier days. But, to be fair, it's not without its downsides – the food's a bit basic, just some rolls and crisps, so if you're peckish for more, you might need to look elsewhere. And I've heard a couple of people mention it's lost some of that unique character it had before, which does make you pause. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a good old pint and a catch-up; I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep in mind it might be more your speed for a quiet one rather than a big night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic selection of real ales and beers that really hit the spot for ale enthusiasts.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got that cosy, old-style charm with lovely wallpaper and a comfortable atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed pint.
-
Under the new landlord, the place has turned around nicely, with a great vibe and improvements that make it a must-visit.
-
They've got a decent city garden for when the weather's nice, and some solid bar snacks like massive cobs to keep you going.
Cons
-
Food options are pretty limited, just rolls and crisps, so it's not the spot if you're after a proper meal.
-
One or two folks have mentioned it feels like it's lost a bit of its original character and diverse crowd since the changes, which is a shame.
-
It can be quite quiet at times, which might not suit everyone if you're looking for a lively buzz.
-
The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent in the details, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

Cracking old style pub. Huge selection of real ales, comfortable but not super smart surroundings, really friendly staff and good atmosphere. Not one for food although does do rolls/crisps. Just a good old fashioned pub. Loved it.
Very quiet and cosy. It has a great selection of beers. It also has lovely wallpaper and lots of charm. The staff are really friendly. They have a range of 'proper' bar snacks. This is a real pub. I came here years ago and I'm really glad I went back
New landlord, new atmosphere and fabulous beers. Well done BCA for turning what was a bit of an avoid into a must visit. The new team (I've met Andy, Reece, Andrea and Jen) are fantastic. I've been half a dozen times in the last months and you can just sense the change in atmosphere. Great pub!
We've visited here a few times since the new landlord has came in, must give it a 5/5 . Perfect beer and cider and of course as you'd expect from black country, Perfect ales. Massive cobs, great smiles and quick service, decent city garden, couldn't ask for a more friendly place to visit. We brought our darts the first time and had loads of fun and have since been for a group skittles night which was even more fun !! Honestly a must go for any sort of occasion. Thanks so much to all.
I don't write too many negative reviews, but here we go.
I understand that the historic change of the South African family who ran this place brought about the place we have today.

This used to be a stand-out place for an incredibly diverse customer base. Full of unimproved atmosphere and characters. Movers and shakers and families and kids, watching five nations on dull Saturdays, cozy bar and lounge inside- skittles etc.
The yard outside was rustic and charming with plants and hanging baskets, open views to the sky and magical.
Busy, busy, busy and alive as hell. My kids loved it, and the ramshackle bar and the variety of everything behind it. It was like a home.
Now, its no different from any other generic pub-chain touting itself as some 'stand out experience' it is not. Its bland and 'customer friendly' where you are greeted by somebody from the 'team' not some family member who greets you on recognition, even though you have not been in for 6 months.
The pub was never broke, but it became fixed, what a sad loss and not it only exists in the memories of many.
