About This Pub

Oh, the Royal Telegraph is one of those proper pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back night out. From the reviews I've had a look at, it's got this brilliant atmosphere that's all about being cosy and welcoming, with staff who go out of their way to make you feel at home – think warm fires and a real community vibe. The beers and spirits are spot on and won't set you back much, which is always a win, and they've got live music and games to keep things lively without it getting too rowdy. It's especially good if you're popping in with a group of mates for a catch-up. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't offer any food, so you might want to grab something before you go, and remember to bring cash since cards aren't an option. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint in the area, with that high rating speaking volumes about what they do right, but it's worth noting those little niggles to keep expectations balanced.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of beers and spirits at really affordable prices, making it a budget-friendly spot for a pint.
  • Super friendly and welcoming staff who create a warm, homely atmosphere right from the get-go.
  • Lovely cosy vibe with a warm fire, live music, and bar games like pool, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends.
  • Great for groups, with a casual setting that encourages good chats and fun times.
  • It's wheelchair-accessible and has a spotlessly clean environment, adding to the overall comfort.
Cons
  • No food available on site, so you'll need to sort out a bite to eat elsewhere before heading in.
  • Cash only payments, which can be a bit of a nuisance if you're used to tapping your card.
  • Opening hours are fairly late on weekdays, starting from 4pm, so it's not ideal for an early drink.

Visited here whilst visiting family in the area and found the pub to be so friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was great, the place was spotlessly clean with a really cosy - made even better by the warm fire. The staff were friendly and helpful and the cocktails were delicious. Myself and my partner worked our way through 3 of the options on the cocktail menu and enjoyed all of them (especially reccomend the lychee martini). Thanks for a lovely visit!
