About This Pub
Ah, The County in Aycliffe Village is one of those spots that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food's a real winner – think fresh, flavoursome starters and desserts that leave you smiling, plus a cracking breakfast that sets you up for the day. The team there are dead friendly, always ready with a warm hello and a bit of banter, which makes the whole place feel inviting and homely. If you're popping in for a night, the rooms sound spot on, all clean and comfortable with that nice village touch. It's got this lovely, relaxed atmosphere overlooking the green, perfect for unwinding with a pint or a meal. On the downside, though, a few folks have mentioned that service can drag a bit, even on quieter days, and some grub might not quite match the hype, with prices feeling a touch high for what's on the plate. Still, it's a solid choice for a good night out or a break away – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time.

It's got a lovely atmosphere, set in the heart of Aycliffe Village with charming views over the green, blending a traditional pub vibe with a touch of countryside charm.
Cons
-
Service can be a bit slow at times, even when it's not particularly busy, which might leave you waiting a tad longer than you'd like.

Some dishes fall short of expectations, like the Sunday roast that one person found disappointing and overpriced for what it offered.
-
Prices have crept up, making meals feel a bit steep compared to the portion sizes or overall experience in a few cases.

Great Experience!
The food was delicious and portions were just right. The chicken mango salad starter was fresh and refreshing. The steak for the main course was ok, and the apple crumble dessert was perfectly sweet, highlighting the apple flavor. The staff were incredibly welcoming and chatty, making the experience feel homely. Overall, really good food and a wonderful atmosphere!
Breakfast was off the scale, proportionate and delicious, served hot and very tasty, Sam was our waitress and was very polite, informative and helpful during our business visit, we weren't able to dine the same evening due to other commitments but based on the breakfast we can only imagine that this would have been worth it, we would definitely eat here again.
Lovely Sunday lunch as always. We always have the same from the menu, however our bill has increased by £20.00.
Great food and atmosphere, only downside was the service was slow from the waiting staff when it wasn’t that busy. Would definitely recommend however.
Went there first time about two weeks ago encouraged by the reviews and unfortunately didn’t like it. The ambient of the place is very nice as well as the service( can’t blame the waiters) but the food was well below average. I had (a very pricey) Sunday roast and I couldn’t be more disappointed. It was truly a bizzare concoction… never had a jacket potato with my Sunday roast before? One pig in blanket, one of each boiled vegetables (broccoli etc), gravy that tasted like made from granules, bland turkey, no nice sides. No effort was put into this dish and it tasted like hospital meal rather than something served at a top rated pub.
