About This Pub

Ah, the Royal Oak in Harrow – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the staff really shine through; they're warm, chatty, and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates, which is just what you want after a wander around the nearby shops. The food and drinks are spot on for the price – nothing fancy, but solid and satisfying, especially if you're settling in for some live sports action like the Women's Euros or rugby tours. It's got all the right touches, like a beer garden and being dog-friendly, making it a versatile spot for a casual meet-up. On the flip side, though, it's not without its downsides; a few have mentioned the toilets needing a good sort-out to avoid any unpleasant surprises, and that slightly dim, moody atmosphere might not suit everyone if you're after something more upbeat. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint or meal, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're in the area – just keep those little niggles in mind for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, with a special mention for folks like James who go the extra mile to create a welcoming atmosphere.
  • You get brilliant value for money on the food and drinks – it's all reasonably priced and hits the spot after a day of shopping nearby.
  • The vibe is spot on; it's got a cosy, traditional feel with a great aesthetic, perfect for catching live sports like football or rugby in a beer garden setting.
  • It's in a prime spot in Harrow, just a stone's throw from the shopping centres, making it an ideal pitstop for a quick pint or a relaxed afternoon.
  • They're super family-friendly and dog-friendly, with facilities like WiFi and Sky Sports that add to the fun for everyone dropping in.
Cons
  • The toilets can sometimes be a bit of a letdown, like in the men's cubicles, which might need a bit more regular upkeep to keep things fresh.
  • The atmosphere has a darker, gloomier edge that some might find a tad too cosy or not as bright as they'd like for a lively night out.
  • A few reviews hint at minor niggles, such as needing to replace things like pool table tips, which could make the experience even smoother if sorted.

I come here all the time. The staff are great, the food is good value, drinks are reasonably priced and the general vibe and aesthetic are great. Best pub in Harrow, special shout out to James who is just a genuinely nice guy - all the staff are great too.

Great pub very nearly and good food. Located in a prime spot besides the popular St George's Shopping Centre, Central Harrow and at the end of St Anne's Road and Precinct, the Royal Oak by Greene King is a fantastic place to spend five minutes or five hours. With a fresh, clean, pandemic friendly interior of LED TVs for live sports, BOSE sound system and sunny pub garden exterior, every preference and occasion can be accounted for.

I’ve been to this place a couple of times now, and I must say the staff are always very friendly. Recently, I visited and noticed the decor was lovely, especially with the Christmas setup – it really created a cute and festive atmosphere. However, if I could offer one piece of advice, it would be to focus on deep cleaning. A thorough clean would really enhance the overall appeal and help maintain the charm of this already cute place. Despite this, overall, I had a good experience and will likely return.

The Royal Oak has quickly become one of my all-time favorite pubs, and my dad and I keep coming back for more! We went for lunch yesterday, and as always, it didn’t disappoint. The pub has a dark, slightly gloomier atmosphere that I absolutely love—it’s cozy, inviting, and the perfect setting for a relaxed meal. The staff are always friendly and add to the warm vibe. I had the mac and cheese with a side of garlic bread, and my dad had the bacon beef cheeseburger. Both meals were excellent! The mac and cheese was hands down the highlight for me—rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Honestly, I’d die for that mac and cheese! Portion size was just right, and it was wonderfully filling. My dad’s burger was juicy and tender, served with perfectly fried fries. The only tiny hiccup was the onion rings, which were slightly under-done for my taste, but that’s just a personal preference. The only downside to our visit was the wait for food, especially considering the pub wasn’t particularly busy. But other than that, everything else was spot on, as always. The Royal Oak will definitely continue to be a go-to spot for us!
