About This Pub
Ah, The George in Harrow – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper community hub, especially with its ties to Craft Union and all those drink offers that make it easy to settle in for the evening. I have to say, the staff are an absolute highlight; they're always up for a chat and make you feel looked after, which is just what you want after a long day. The food's generally spot on too – think hearty options like a mixed grill or chicken tikka that hit the spot, and it's got that blend of old-school pub warmth with modern touches, like big screens for catching the footy. But, let's be honest, it's not all roses; I've heard a few grumbles about hygiene slipping in places, like the toilets, and it's a shame they've done away with the upstairs bit and the full kitchen, which means fewer choices and that sense of it going downhill a tad. Parking's another faff on that busy road, and some dishes can be a bit inconsistent – who knew peas could cause such a debate? All in all, though, if you're after a relaxed spot for a pint and some mates, it's worth a visit, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a good time.

Cons

Hygiene can be a bit hit or miss, with some reports of issues in the toilets that take a while to sort out.
-
The pub has lost some of its sparkle over the years, like removing the upstairs seating and the kitchen, which has limited the food choices.
-
Certain dishes might not always be available, which can be disappointing if you're set on something specific.
-
Parking's a hassle on the busy road, so you might end up walking a bit or dealing with the nearby options.
-
A few folks have mentioned some food items, like the peas in the mixed grill, that just don't quite hit the mark.

The George used to be one of the best pubs around a few years ago, but sadly it has gone downhill. First, they removed the upstairs seating, then the kitchen, which already made a big difference. We hadn’t visited in a long time, but today decided to pop in for a quick beer.
Unfortunately, it was a letdown. They were out of Guinness and Neck Oil, so we settled for Carlsberg and John Smith — not exactly exciting. The place wasn’t busy (maybe 4-5 tables occupied), but service and maintenance were still lacking.
The toilets were in a terrible state: one out of order, the other dirty with no toilet paper and pee on the floor. Staff were standing around with nothing to do — maybe time would be better spent cleaning up and restocking essentials.
Really hope management turns things around, because this place used to have so much potential.
Well, dont know. They have nice staff 8
I can say, but the hygiene level might be of concern. I was in chance witnessing one of the female toilet blow that had dark black substances for more than a week then 8n the end they just “fixed” it by putting notice on that blow to avoiding no one could get in... which started happening for weeks and left that continuously happened for more than 4 weeks. Till now, I still have no clue on that that had been fixed (i.e., property clean) or just let it lock with no one access...
Found a cozy corner with my family on a Saturday afternoon.
The food was good. The Fish and chips were not available unfortunately. The chicken tikka and chicken fillet sub were good.
The salad with sothern fried chicken was okay, and quite fresh and sweet.
Visited on a Monday morning for brunch. Place was almost empty but clean. Atmosphere is a blend of old/modern. Gives the impression of being an old pub + sports bar. Staff was friendly and helpful. No parking in the street as it's a busy road but you can find parking nearby. Food was good, we had English breakfast. One negative side of it: no black pudding, which should be part of it by tradition. Would visit again.
Enjoyed our visit here. The mixed grill was top notch, apart from the peas. Not knocking the pub for that, but why? There must be a secret society of garden pea lovers, and we are most definitely not paid-up members! At the time of visiting, it has Doom Bar, London Pride and Tribute on tap, as well as the usual lagers. Would visit again.
