About This Pub
Ah, The Moon on the Hill, it's one of those Wetherspoon pubs that you pop into for a no-fuss pint or a cheap bite, and honestly, it does some things really well that make it a go-to for a quick escape. I love how you can snag a generous breakfast for peanuts, and the fact it's slap bang near the bus stops means it's super easy to nip in after a day out. Plus, it's open from the crack of dawn till late, which is brilliant if you're after a casual catch-up any time. But, and I have to be straight with you, it's not all roses – some visits have been marred by lukewarm food that doesn't quite hit the spot, and the service can feel a bit lacklustre, like the team's having an off day. Then there's the odd grimy table or untidy loo that takes the shine off, and being a smaller venue, it can get a bit packed, losing that airy feel. Overall, if you're up for a budget bevvy and don't mind overlooking a few niggles, it's worth a try, but maybe keep expectations in check based on what I've heard from others.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's a classic Wetherspoon spot with really affordable prices, like grabbing a hearty breakfast for just over £4 – perfect if you're watching your wallet.
-
The location is spot on, right near bus stops for easy access to local spots, making it a convenient pit stop.
-
They've got that typical open and spacious feel, even if this one's a bit cozier than some others, which can make for a relaxed vibe when it's not too busy.
-
Open seven days a week from early morning till late, so it's great for a cheeky pint or meal at odd hours.
Cons
-
Service can be hit or miss, with some folks mentioning staff who seem a bit disinterested or unenthusiastic, which puts a damper on the experience.
-
Food quality isn't always up to scratch – complaints about cold dishes and soggy chips mean you might end up with a disappointing meal.
-
The place can feel a tad neglected at times, like with dirty tables or messy toilets, which isn't ideal for a relaxing visit.
-
It's on the smaller side compared to other Wetherspoons, so it might get crowded and lose that spacious charm quickly.

Wetherspoons pubs are generally known for their spacious interiors and ability to accommodate large crowds, creating a distinct, open atmosphere. However, this one is relatively small in comparison.
Formal Complaint Regarding Poor Service and Staff Behaviour at Moon on the Hill (Harrow)
Dear Wetherspoon Management,
I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding the extremely poor service I received today at your Moon on the Hill branch in Harrow during breakfast hours.
I ordered two large breakfasts and one hot drink. However, the experience was far from what I expected from a well-known establishment like Wetherspoon. Firstly, we had to wait a long time for a table to be cleaned and cleared, even though the restaurant was not busy and only a few customers were present.
When a staff member named Fiona brought our food, she did not bother to clear the dirty table. Instead, she carelessly placed the plates down on the cluttered surface. In the process, a bunch of bread pieces—around four slices—fell onto the dirty table. I asked why the table hadn’t been cleared before serving, and she responded with visible attitude and no professionalism.
What made the situation worse was that she didn’t apologise at all. In fact, she was laughing, which I found extremely disrespectful. Though she later replaced the toast, she still showed no remorse or courtesy.
This is the first time I’ve experienced such rude and unprofessional behaviour in the UK. As an Indian customer, I felt deeply hurt and disrespected. Moreover, when I placed my order, Fiona did not greet us—no “hello” or “good morning.” Basic hospitality and manners were completely lacking.
I am extremely disappointed and hope that this complaint will be taken seriously. I would appreciate a response and reassurance that this type of behaviour will be addressed.
Thank you for your time and attention.
Dropped by recently and was genuinely impressed—though not in the way one might hope. It’s not every day you get to witness people asleep on tables while the manager, with one AirPod in, casually handles customer service with all the enthusiasm of someone being mildly inconvenienced. Watching them juggle a phone in one hand and money in the other (with a few coins dropped for extra flair) was truly something.
Not a single clean table in sight, and dirty plates had seemingly become part of the décor. It’s always interesting when hygiene seems optional and customer service feels more like an afterthought. I suppose the ambiance aims for “gritty urban realism,” though I’m not sure that’s what most diners are after.
Here’s hoping management considers raising the bar—at least off the floor.
Classical Disaster. Major disappointment.
First impressions, not good. Tables need cleaning. Menu cards need replacing or a good clean.
Ordered English classic, Fish & Chips with Peas.
Order arrived cold. "Cod" cold and mostly batter. Chips cold and soggy.
Peas cold sludge.
Mens Toilets wet as you enter. Cubicles dirty, no tissue paper.
I enjoyed a Freedom Breakfast and a bottle of water for £4.08. Generous amount of food for the money and all cooked to the right temperature except for the cold baked beans.
One of the smaller spoons.
Bus stop to many local destinations right outside.
