About This Pub
Ah, the Royal Butterfly – what a gem of a pub in Burnley! From what I've gathered, it's got this warm, welcoming feel that's all about bringing the community together, whether that's through local events or just having a laugh over a game of pool. I love how it's geared towards sports fans; you can settle in with a pint and catch all the action on the telly, and that beer garden is just the ticket for a bit of fresh air on nicer days. The prices are spot on too – nothing fancy, but that's part of its charm, keeping things accessible for everyone. On the downside, it's a pity they don't offer any food, so if you're peckish, you'll have to plan ahead and grab something nearby. Also, while the hours cover evenings nicely, it might not be the place for a daytime stop, and I've heard there are a few mixed opinions out there from the past. All in all, though, it's a proper little spot that does community pubs proud – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives really shine through for a relaxed night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The community spirit here is absolutely spot on – it's all about locals coming together, supporting each other, and even raising funds for good causes, which makes it feel like a real home from home.
-
It's a top spot for sports enthusiasts, with plenty of screens to catch the game and a couple of pool tables to keep things lively.
-
The beer garden is a lovely touch, especially on a sunny day in Burnley – perfect for a relaxed pint outdoors.
-
Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a good night out without worrying about the cost.
-
The regulars are incredibly friendly and sociable, making it easy to strike up a chat and feel welcome straight away.
Cons
-
It doesn't serve food, which is a bit of a shame if you're after a proper meal with your drink – you might need to pop somewhere else for that.
-
The opening hours can seem a tad inconsistent or limited during the day, so it's more of an evening haunt rather than an all-day affair.
-
While the reviews we've seen are glowing, there might be some older negative comments floating around online, so it's worth keeping in mind that perceptions can vary.

Friendly local pub.. little beer garden/smoking area.. can't remember this pub not being here tbh.. up the prettier end of B wood, near the train tracks.. it's a nice pub, if you're passing, drop in!
Have just completed 18 months running this pub and if I had taken any notice of the bad reviews written about it on other sites I would never have stayed.
I found the regular customers to be honest hardworking people. They love their sport, are very sociable and friendly.
I am leaving for personal reasons, nothing to do with the pub or the customers and will miss them very much.
I am leaving behind a lot of friends. I hope this review will encourage people to pop in and see for themselves, they will be made welcome, enjoy a good pint.
