About This Pub

Ah, Roseleaf Bar Cafe – it's one of those spots that just feels like a hidden gem in Leith, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome, whether you're cancelling a booking or just swinging by for a bite. The food's homemade and delicious, with plenty of options for brunch or dinner that leave you satisfied, and it's brilliant for those who fancy a dog-friendly outing. The drinks menu is spot on too, adding to that homely vibe that makes it easy to while away an afternoon. On the flip side, those local roadworks can be a right nuisance, making the walk up a bit of a chore, and if you're not quick with reservations, you might end up playing phone tag or missing out. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pub crawl in Edinburgh – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, just plan your route and timing to avoid any frustrations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – always so welcoming and accommodating, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • The food and drinks are top-notch, with homemade options that hit the spot, whether you're after a hearty brunch or a relaxing evening pint.
  • It's got a lovely, cosy ambiance that makes it perfect for a catch-up with mates or a quiet drink, and it's even dog-friendly in the front area.
  • They've got a great vibe overall, with things like being featured on telly shows adding a fun bit of excitement to the place.
Cons
  • There are some ongoing roadworks nearby, which can make it a bit of a hassle to get to and might spoil the approach.
  • Reservations can be a tad fiddly – you might need to call if you're running late or cancelling on the day, as tables are only held for 15 minutes.
  • It's moderately priced, which is fair but could feel a bit steep if you're just popping in for a quick one without planning ahead.

We regrettably had to cancel our reservation, but the staff was incredibly accommodating and offered us an alternative. This place is truly exceptional. The ambiance is fantastic, the personnel is friendly, and the food is of high quality. I would definitely go here again!

Such a great little place!!! We came here kinda on whim. We were trying to go somewhere else and it was all booked up. We came here, got two seats at the bar (apparently the some "somebody feed Phil" was filmed here and we sat where he sat!!!!! Exciting). We sat down, and was immediately greeted by amazing service. He was amazingly informative about the food, the drinks, the area, the history, and literally anything we asked about! We got the hummus, Mac and cheese, and risotto (gluten free). They have gluten free bread and many other GF options. Kitchen is small and so cross contamination can happen so keep that in mind. The food was amazing! Loved everything about this place on general! Great building an aesthetics. Go here! Especially if you have watch the somebody feed Phil episode on Scotland... Or of you want really good food and very friendly service!

Everything about this place is great! I come here often with my partner and dog, and once in a while with friends. Their food is homemade, and their drinks are as well! The service is always lovely and welcoming, especially from the girls. A huge plus is that they’re dog-friendly, and the staff love dogs too! They have certainly earned their regulars now, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone! ❤️

Absolutely lovely place with amazing and hospitable people. Atmosphere there was so sweet and felt like home. Food quality was great as well (I took avocado toast and my friend got pancakes for himself). The portions were great. I also loved that menu was made using national geographic journal. Staff members were all friendly and helpful ;)
