About This Pub

Ah, the Rose & Crown – it's one of those proper Oxford pubs that just feels like a breath of fresh air, you know? From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, it's got this wonderful traditional vibe that's hard to beat, with a cracking selection of beers that'd make any drinker smile. The food's another highlight; their Sunday roasts come highly recommended – think juicy meats, proper veg, and all that good stuff without breaking the bank. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the welcoming feel. Plus, that beer garden is a real gem, especially on a sunny afternoon, and they've got events like jazz nights that bring a bit of extra magic to the place. On the flip side, it's a cosy spot inside, which means it can get a tad crowded when things pick up, and it might not be the most straightforward for anyone with mobility issues, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit. All in all, it's a solid choice for a pint and a bite, blending that old-school pub charm with a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere that keeps people coming back.

Cons

Turned up on a quiet Sunday lunchtime just sat they were starting serving so judgment of atmosphere is not accurate. Traditional Oxford pub with a good beer selection and delicious meals. Sunday roast was very tasty and reasonable portions with a quick service. Friendly staff and a warm welcome from a gentleman I can only assume was the owner. The little things that we all seem to have lost these days but make all the difference. Would go back for a meal or a drink in the future.

A wonderful and traditional pub with beer garden which is the jewel in the crown of North Oxford. Andrew and family have been running the establishment for over 40 years and it's easy to see why it remains such a successful and welcoming place to enjoy a drink. A varied yet concise selection of drinks and lovely food available, with Jazz Inn The Courtyard on Sundays being a highlight.

We came, for the third time, to see Jazz in the Courtyard. Amy Webber was singing with the amazing jazz band. Excellent and lively atmosphere. We ate well and the staff were very welcoming.

A lovely little gem serving good pints. They offer food, though we didn’t try. The staff were very helpful and the space is clean. Harder to get around for limited mobility, but a lovely back garden space.

What a find! A tiny pub full of charm, small inside but tables in a no traffic lane and in the little garden at the rear. I didn't eat here but the beer was great, lots of atmosphere, go there!
