About This Pub

Ah, the Rose & Crown – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a warm hug when you step inside, tucked away in the heart of Wimbledon Village. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, folks rave about the fantastic selection of real ales and those hearty British dishes that are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients – I mean, who could resist a top-notch Sunday roast or a perfectly crispy fish and chips? The staff really shine too; they're quick to make you feel at ease, whether you're popping in for a pint or settling in for a meal. It's especially great for those sunny days in the garden or catching the big sports matches with a crowd of like-minded enthusiasts. And if you're after a stay, the rooms sound comfy and well-suited for a peaceful night after a day of exploring. On the flip side, it does get heaving at times, so you might find yourself feeling a tad rushed if they're turning tables quickly, or struggling to snag a spot when it's buzzing. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up or a cheeky overnight, and I'd say it's worth a visit for anyone looking for that authentic pub charm with a modern twist – just keep an eye on the timings to avoid the rush!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious seasonal British dishes and proper classics like fish and chips that hit the spot every time.
  • Staff are always so friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a brilliant spot for a relaxed vibe, with a sun-drenched garden that's perfect for lazy afternoons and a great atmosphere for watching sports like rugby or tennis.
  • Dog-friendly setup means you can bring your furry friends along, and they've even got treats for them – what's not to love?
  • If you're staying over, the rooms are comfortable and clean, with a solid breakfast to start your day, making it a handy choice for a mini getaway in Wimbledon Village.
Cons
  • It can get a bit rushed at times, especially if they're expecting another group, so you might feel like you're being hurried through your meal.
  • The place gets packed quickly, which means tables might be hard to come by, particularly during busy events or peak hours.

We have been here a few times now and always had a great time, food and staff always lovely , however this is the first time we felt a little rushed . We were told that they had another party coming in after us , which is fine, but after we finished our main course, a staff member came over with our bill behind his back which we all saw and then asked if we were having desserts , we weee going to as we did still have ample time before the next party , but because we felt we were being rushed and with the staff member clearly having our bill behind his back we decided we should go . Really disdain ted. As this had become a favourite of ours and this has really put us off. I could understand if time was tight and the next group were due, but this was not the case. The food was good as always, and the staff were great but this situation just made us all feel very uncomfortable .

We popped in a few weeks ago for the first time with some visiting family and were very impressed. Although busy the pub had a really relaxed atmosphere, perfect for bringing the dogs along. both staff and customers were all polite and friendly. You never had to wait long to get served at the bar which was amazing to say the rugby was on. The bar staff were quick and remembered your orders which was super helpful. We ended up staying for food which was really nice. There's a good varied menu and they were knowledge about allergies which again was great. No hesitation or moaning just helpful staff. Many thanks, we'll be back in the future.

I had the most wonderful experience at Rose & Crown last night! The fish and chips were absolutely exceptional – perfectly crispy, tender, and flavourful. The service was outstanding, with the staff being friendly, attentive, and quick. The venue itself was packed, there was literally no free table. It’s the perfect place with it’s warmth, welcoming and charming atmosphere to enjoy a delicious meal and chill. Highly recommend to anyone craving top-notch food and great service!”

This is a lovely pub, restaurant and hotel serving food in the heart of Wimbledon. I went there for breakfast. Dogs allowed inside, they even put a treat table for them. The breakfast was fresh, coffees are delicious and good. I ordered croissant Crouque Madame and swapped the bacon with mushrooms ( recommended by their chef) and it was amazingly buttery, cheesy and delicious. It serves with one egg only in the form of fried but I ordered extra egg too, and let me give you a secret. Poached egg is a win-win combination. My friend ordered the eggs florentine, asked the sauce on the side. It was delicious too. There is a breakfast bar there to enjoy cakes, pastries, fresh fruits and juices. Staffs are nice and friendly, very patient and helpful.
