About This Pub
Ah, Fire Stables – it's one of those Wimbledon spots that just feels like a proper local gem, doesn't it? Picture this: you're settling in for a lazy Sunday with one of their legendary roasts, and let me tell you, the feedback is glowing – think succulent meat, those gloriously crisp potatoes, and all the trimmings that make it a real standout. The team behind the bar and in the kitchen are spot on too, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to that homely feel in the village. It's brilliant for a quick pint or even a pre-Tennis nibble, with a menu full of fresh, seasonal options that keep things interesting. But, to keep it real, I've heard a few tales of disappointment with certain meals, like the full English coming up short on portions for the price – that £14 bill might not sit right if you're expecting a hearty plate. Still, overall, it's a solid choice for us pub lovers, with its high marks and welcoming vibe making up for the odd hiccup. If you're in the area, I'd say give it a go and see for yourself – it's got that mix of relaxed charm and good food that keeps people coming back.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The Sunday roasts are an absolute highlight – folks can't stop raving about the tender pork belly, crispy potatoes, and generous portions that make it feel like a proper treat.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, creating that warm, welcoming vibe where you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a cosy, laid-back atmosphere in the heart of Wimbledon Village, perfect for relaxing with a pint or catching up with mates after a long day.
-
A great spot for drinks, with a solid selection of craft beers, cocktails, and wines to suit all tastes.
-
Handy location near Wimbledon Tennis, making it ideal for a pre or post-match meal with seasonal dishes that add a bit of excitement to the day.
Cons
-
Some dishes, like the full English breakfast, have been criticised for skimpy portions that don't quite match the price tag – it might leave you feeling a bit short-changed.
-
There have been occasional gripes about past service slip-ups or inconsistencies, though recent visits suggest things are on the up.
-
It can feel a tad pricey for what you get in places, with one person calling out the £14 brunch as not living up to expectations.

Well...we are local but have not been for 2 years after a series of disasters.
But tonight we re-tried and were rewarded with an excellent evening. Absolutely charming and genuine French maitre d looked after us flawlessly.
The food was EXCELLENT!
It's a great feeling when your local restaurant delivers. ..my friends were from Fulham and Putney and they were very impressed.
The BEST Sunday roast in London. Their pork belly is unmatched and the service is great, courtesy of Dev! Every time i’ve been here the staff have been so lovely and the food is like no other. You must come here for a roast!!
I ordered the “full English” from their brunch menu on a quiet Saturday afternoon. I did not want the tomato, hash brown, or piece of toast. Fair enough. But the serving size for everything else was so meagre. I don’t know how they’re charging £14 for this. They should be embarrassed.
Food was good and atmosphere was pleasant. Staff are really friendly. Will defo be coming back for the lovely fish and chips (very filling) 👍🏿
I recently visited Fire Stables for a Sunday roast, and it was absolutely fantastic. The roast dinner was cooked to perfection, with tender meat, crispy potatoes, and all the traditional trimmings. The portions were generous, and everything was served piping hot. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch roast in a relaxed, welcoming setting. I’ll definitely be returning!
