About This Pub
Ah, the Bulls Head – it's one of those places that really grows on you, tucked away in the leafy suburbs of Hale Barns, not far from the buzz of Manchester Airport. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, it's a gem for anyone looking for a blend of a classic pub atmosphere and a stylish hotel stay. The rooms are a highlight; they're snug and well-designed, with comfortable beds that make for a peaceful night's sleep, and it's clear folks love it as a base for travels or business trips. The food menu is full of proper pub grub – think mouthwatering roasts and family-friendly options – paired with service that's genuinely warm and attentive, like chatting with old mates behind the bar. Plus, with the new EV charging points, it's keeping up with the times in a clever way. But, let's be straight, it's not perfect; a few visitors have mentioned rooms not being cleaned daily or lacking simple things like a bathroom fan or a fridge, which can put a dampener on things if you're hoping for seamless comfort. And while it's a step up from budget options, that does mean it might stretch the budget a bit more than expected. Overall, though, I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after a solid, enjoyable spot – just keep those little quirks in mind, and you'll have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The rooms are absolutely cosy and comfortable, with lovely beds that make you feel right at home, especially if you're jetting off from Manchester Airport.
-
The food is spot on – think hearty pub favourites and delicious roasts that hit the spot, served with friendly smiles from the staff.
-
It's got a stylish, freshly refurbished vibe in a peaceful, leafy spot, making it a great escape from the hustle.
-
They've added EV charging in the car park, which is a brilliant touch for anyone driving an electric car – you can charge up while you dine or stay over.
-
Service is top-notch; the team is warm and welcoming, going out of their way to make your visit memorable.
Cons
-
Some rooms might not get cleaned properly every day, which can leave things feeling a bit overlooked after the first night.
-
There are a few missing basics, like no fan in the bathroom or a fridge in the room, which could make things uncomfortable on warmer days.
-
Coffee sachets and device charging options aren't always topped up or available, so you might need to plan ahead for those little conveniences.
-
It can be a tad pricier than your average budget spot, so if you're watching the pennies, it might not be the most wallet-friendly choice.

The bed was comfortable and shower was nice and powerful. Breakfast was good. I would have given a higher rating but our room was not cleaned after the first night, there was no fan in the bathroom, there was no fridge in the room, coffee sachets were not replenished and there was no device charging port next to the bed. I would overlook these things but the room was very expensive for a local hotel.
We stopped here for Sunday lunch before heading to airport. You had been recommended by friends. The food was beautiful hot tasty and didn’t have to wait too long either. We had great service with a lovely smile by Daisy S. Thank you we will be back on our next adventure.
Our favourite hotel when we're flying out from Manchester. Dinner as always was brilliant as was our breakfast. Lovely seeing all of the staff again. The service is always impeccable, the restaurant is so clean as are the rooms, so comfortable, lovely comfy bed and so quiet. Our go to hotel. Highly recommend, thank you again see you in August x
Me and my partner went out for a bite to eat tonight and wanted to try somewhere new. The service and food were fantastic our waitress Sophie H was really friendly warm welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us, thank you again!
We would highly recommend! And we’ll definitely visit again.
Can see how it gets great reviews, and was just great! 5*****
Will be booking here for our stay each time we travel from Manchester airport.
Does cost a little more than budget hotels, but definitely in another class: great bed, lovely furniture and decor & design lovely.
Room high standard and bed just amazing!
