About This Pub

Ah, Rococo Lounge – it's one of those places that just feels like a breath of fresh air in the heart of Aylesbury, tucked into The Exchange with its charming terrace and light-filled space. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the atmosphere is what really shines; it's all about that laid-back vibe with nods to cool history like the Ziggy Stardust mural, making it perfect for a casual catch-up or a quick bite. The food menu is impressively varied, with options for everyone, and those daily deals like getting two cocktails for a steal or a lunchtime bargain really add to the fun – I can imagine tucking into a burger or some tapas and feeling chuffed about the value. The staff come across as genuinely warm, which always makes a difference when you're out for a pint or a meal. On the flip side, though, a few mates have mentioned the portions aren't as generous as you'd hope, especially for sharing plates, and if you're a beer enthusiast, the lack of real ales might leave you a bit disappointed, sticking to wine or soft drinks instead. There have been niggles about food not always being piping hot, and while it's great for everyday visits, it might not wow you for something special like an anniversary. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing, with that 4.3 rating speaking volumes, but keep expectations realistic for a chain spot – it's about good times without the frills.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's welcoming and laid-back, with a lovely terrace and plenty of natural light flooding in, making it a great spot to unwind.
  • They've got a fantastic range of food options, including tasty dishes that cater to all sorts of diets like gluten-free, vegan, and even kids' menus, plus some cracking deals like Tapas Tuesdays or cheeky cocktails.
  • The staff are really friendly and attentive, which adds to that homely feel, and it's super accessible with wheelchair-friendly seating and restrooms.
  • It's dog-friendly too, so you can pop in with your furry mate, and the overall vibe is buzzing without being overwhelming.
Cons
  • Portion sizes can be a bit on the small side, especially with the tapas, which might leave you wanting more after sharing.
  • Drink options are a tad limited; no real ales or a wide selection of craft beers, so if that's your thing, you might feel a bit restricted.
  • Some folks have mentioned issues like dishes arriving cold, which can put a dampener on the meal.
  • It doesn't quite hit that 'wow' factor for special occasions, feeling more everyday than extraordinary for some.

We visited Rococo Lounge with high hopes, but unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory. We ordered from the tapas menu, which is advertised as "ideal for sharing". However, this could not have been more misleading. The portion sizes were shockingly small - the Harissa chicken skewers, for example, were no bigger than my little finger, and you only get two of them. On top of that, the chicken was extremely dry and lacked any flavour. The fries we received looked broken and uneven, almost as if they had been cut in half deliberately. Drinks arrived missing their garnishes, despite what was clearly shown and described on the menu. This attention to detail matters - especially when prices suggest a more premium experience. All dishes were served in ramekins, which made the portions appear even more meagre. We had to order a second round of tapas just to feel like we had enough for two people. The whole presentation looked like it had come from a children's menu - definitely not shareable as claimed. The service was also lacking. Staff brought out cutlery and napkins but simply dumped them in the middle of the table without laying anything out. Our eating area was untidy - my chair had a visible spill on it, there was food on the floor, and the surrounding sofa seating area had clearly not been cleaned from the previous customers. This really impacted the atmosphere and hygiene. Additionally, the staff didn't appear to have a consistent or professional uniform, which added to the overall lack of polish. All in all, this was a very disappointing visit. Given the poor food quality, misleading portion sizes, lacklustre service and unclean environment, we will not be returning - and we strongly advise others not to waste their money here. It would be a good idea if an area manager conducts an unannounced visit and implements changes.

For a national chain, this pub is pretty good. I've only ever eaten breakfast in here but it's always pretty good with plenty of choice and good quality ingredients. No real ales or a decent choice of craft beers which means I'm restricted to coffee, tea or wine when I visit. The staff are nice and there's plenty of seating. I like this place.

This place has a great atmosphere and very tasty food. I had the chicken burger with sweet potato fries and my wife had the triple pancakes with blueberry jam. Both dishes were tastier than expected! No wonder this place is very popular with the locals.

This venue is not for everyone because it is not your typical restaurant. My wife likes it, and I’m not so keen. We tried it again on Saturday night with friends, having not been there for a while. The food had good flavours. An excellent salt and pepper squid. That said, my brisket was cold in places and my friend’s was too. Our female waitress was not very good. Almost mute and an awkward service. Though, the guy behind the bar that shared his experience of rums was very good because he was very knowledgeable and cared. I am not keen on ordering through an app because it removes the opportunity to engage with the customer.

We went to celebrate our ... years wedding anniversary and will be looking for another place to redo it because there was something WOW! missing...for me. However, The atmosphere and service 👌 I would go back for. I found the place clean, children, and animal friendly, not to mention the multiple sitting options. The service was quick, and the staff were polite and professional. On the menu, The menu was colourful and enticing... could do with pics though 🤔 hmm maybe not... best leave it as it is. Drinks 🍸 🍹 were awesome, in my opinion, especially the non alcoholic range (I don't drink). Try that citric lemony drink with a Yuzu... you'll try it again... and again... and ... get it? The Caribbean chicken curry tasted like chicken washed in some river waters flowing with donkey's urine, and that was it on the flavour... or lack of. I couldn't even taste the coconut 😪 I didn't think it was fair to ask for my money back because I had not inquired how it was. The good waiter had done his job, and well. However, the slow cooked brisket is worth going back for. The only other place I had ever tasted bovine meat fibres going so mellow with other ingredients was... er... never... Nan bread... could do with less salt 🧂 i think i should have the power to salt or not to salt🤔 The kids' menu of fish 🐟 fingers, peas 🫛 and fries 🍟 is a hit with kids, so no complaints. Those churros... less sugar, please 🙏 doesn't matter what the recipe book says.
