About This Pub
Ah, Railway View – it's one of those hidden gems in Macclesfield that just feels like a proper old-school pub, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, folks absolutely rave about the beer; it's got a fantastic range of local ales that go down a treat, and the staff and regulars are dead welcoming, making it easy to settle in for a chat. There's plenty to keep you entertained too, with games like pool and darts on offer, plus that lovely beer garden for when the sun's out, or those warming fires in winter that make you want to linger a bit longer. On the flip side, it's cash only, which might catch you out if you're not prepared, and there's no food available, so you could end up heading elsewhere for a meal. Also, without a website, it's a bit tricky to get the latest info online, and the opening times look a touch variable, so planning ahead is key. Overall, it's a solid spot for beer lovers looking for a genuine, unpretentious vibe, but just keep those little niggles in mind for a smoother visit.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with some cracking local ales that really hit the mark for a proper pint.
-
It's got that warm, traditional pub feel with friendly staff and locals who make you feel welcome right away.
-
Loads of fun activities like pool, darts, and even skittles – perfect for a casual night out with mates.
-
The beer garden is a suntrap on nice days, ideal for soaking up the rays with a drink in hand.
-
In the colder months, those lively fires keep things cosy and inviting, just right for a good chat.
Cons
-
It's cash only, which can be a bit of a faff if you're used to tapping your card everywhere.
-
No food on offer means you might need to pop out for a bite if you're getting peckish.
-
With no website or online presence, it's not the easiest to check opening times or what's on before you head over.
-
The hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, so it might be worth double-checking to avoid disappointment.

Cash only, traditional pub. Some fine real ales, and a great atmosphere. Has had a bit of a move around, regards the pool table and now 2 dartboards for the use of customers

A REAL pub. Privately owned, so it hasn't been turned into a theme pub. Great beer. Pool, darts, skittles, crib, chess and more great beer. Suntrap beer garden. Fun Landlord.
Dave runs a great pub - nothing too much trouble. Good pool teams and friendly locals go in. Outside area is fab especially when the sun is shining. In the autymn/winter lively warm fires are lit.
