About This Pub
Ah, the Gardeners Arms – it's one of those cosy pubs in Stockport that just draws you in with its friendly atmosphere and that homely touch. I have to say, the staff really stand out; they're so approachable and make every visit feel like catching up with old mates. The drinks menu is a winner too, packed with craft ales, beers, and spirits, plus those everyday deals that keep things affordable without skimping on quality. It's brilliant for watching sports, with Sky and TNT on offer, and the beer garden adds a lovely spot to unwind, even if the traffic hum does sneak in now and then. On the food front, they've nailed the pizzas and toasties – fresh, tasty, and great value with that £10 deal – but it's a shame they've scaled back to just those options, so if you're fancying a proper roast or something more substantial, you might need to look elsewhere. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint and a chat, especially if you're with the family or the dog, but keeping those limitations in mind will set your expectations just right for a enjoyable time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, really making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, from craft ales to draught beers, with some cracking deals on pints that make it easy on the wallet.
-
It's a proper community spot with great facilities like a beer garden, Sky and TNT Sports for watching the big games, and it's even dog and family-friendly for a relaxed vibe.
-
The food might be simple, but the pizzas and toasties are spot on – affordable and tasty, especially with those £10 pizza and pint deals.
Cons
-
The menu's a bit limited these days, just sticking to pizzas and toasties, so if you're after a full meal, you might be disappointed.
-
The outdoor seating has a nice charm, but the traffic noise can be a bit of a nuisance, making it less peaceful than you'd hope.
-
There might be some confusion around opening times, as it seems like things could vary, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.

No meals anymore. Just pizza and toasties.
Great bar service though.
A pleasant enough place with nice enough little pews outside if you don’t mind hearing less than romantic traffic (obviously they can only work with what they have, as with anyone or any establishment)
Had the pizza & a pint £10 deal a few times, its really good quality.
Now also doing toasties & soup etc
Megan the Landlady is so friendly & professional, she is really breathing fresh life into the Gardeners, it's more welcoming than ever.
The Christmas decks we're a labour of love, well done her for putting the effort in... All staff are friendly & welcoming.
Hopefully the brewery continues to invest, The Gardeners Arms deserves progressive improvement, the beer garden, a former car park has much potential... And the front could do with a touch up.
Great pub. Friendly staff. Quick service. Now they do pizzas too which are nice
The pizza at Gardeners Arms, Greene King is absolutely delicious! The crust is perfectly crispy, the sauce is flavorful, and the toppings are fresh and plentiful. Whether you prefer classic combinations like pepperoni or something more adventurous like BBQ chicken, they have something for everyone. Plus, their selection of ice-cold beer complements the pizza perfectly, making it the ideal spot for a casual meal or a night out with friends. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, and the service is always friendly. And don't forget why pay Manchester prices.
