About This Pub

Ah, Punch Tarmey's in Liverpool—it's one of those places that really knows how to get the party started, isn't it? From what I've gathered, it's got this infectious Irish vibe that's hard to resist, with live music pumping out every weekend on their main stage and even in the courtyard, making it ideal for a fun evening with mates. The staff are an absolute delight; they go out of their way to make you feel welcome, whether it's serving up a brilliant bottomless brunch or just having a quick chat while you order drinks. And if you're into sports, you'll love the massive screens indoors and out—it's brilliant for catching all the action without missing a beat. Plus, there's a great selection of cocktails and other drinks that keep things flowing nicely, and little touches like the pool tables and dart boards add to the laid-back fun. On the flip side, though, the food seems to be where it falls a bit short; there've been tales of disappointing meals with long waits and some slip-ups in service, so maybe it's best to stick to the drinks if you're not in the mood for a gamble. Overall, it's a gem for a lively outing, but I'd suggest popping in early to snag a good spot and keep expectations realistic for the grub—honestly, it's all about that buzzing atmosphere and good times with friends.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The live music is absolutely brilliant, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere that really gets you in the spirit of an Irish pub—perfect for a lively night out with friends.
  • They've got top-notch service from the staff; folks like Libby, Kayleigh, Megan, and Jaxson come highly recommended for their friendly chats and attentiveness, especially during events like bottomless brunches.
  • It's a sports lover's dream with huge video walls and plenty of screens, so you won't miss any of the big games, and there's even an outdoor courtyard that's great for soaking up the vibe on a nice day.
  • The drink selection is spot on, with amazing cocktails and a wide range to choose from, making it easy to find something that hits the spot.
  • Fun extras like pool tables and dart boards add to the entertainment, giving you more ways to enjoy yourself beyond just the music and matches.
Cons
  • The food can be a bit hit or miss; one experience mentioned terrible dishes with long waits and forgotten items, which might put a dampener on things if you're planning to eat.
  • It gets incredibly busy, especially for live events or matches, so you might struggle to find a seat if you don't arrive early, which can make for a crowded and overwhelming visit.

Terrible food, great live music. Wasn't many eating so can't put it down to busy kitchen, we ordered the sharer, took around 50 minutes, then staff forgot the onion rings, slaw, cutlery, napkins, all the dips and sauces, we waited another 20 mins then queried it and they then brought it out but other food was cold by that point, fried chicken coating far too hard and tasteless, and that's coming from a fried chicken lover who eats anything. Wouldn't recommend for food. Live singer was great.

Great Service with a smile and friendly conversation, good drink selection and decor, pool tables and dart board alongside multiple TVs with sports on all day, would recommend to anyone wanting a drink in a lively place with live performance most weekend evenings

Probably one of our favourite bars in town. Live music is always top notch! Plenty of screens for big games. Would recommend getting in early for a seat if you want to see a match as it does get busy. Always nice service too! Love the old touches! Great outdoor space / courtyard Can’t comment on food I actually didn’t know they did food.
