About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about the Prince of Wales; it's one of those pubs that just hits the spot in Kensington. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is spot on – that steak and ale pie is a real standout, with folks raving about how tasty and comforting it is, paired with lovely sides like chips or mash. The staff are absolute gems, always cheerful and ready to help, whether you're settling in for a meal or just grabbing a drink. It's got this nice mix of history and a fresh feel, right near Kensington Palace, so it's perfect for a family outing or catching up with friends over a pint of something special. They show live sports too, which is brilliant if you're into that, and little touches like being dog-friendly make it even more appealing. On the flip side, it does tend to get a bit heaving during match days, so if you're after somewhere quiet, you might want to pick your time wisely. And with prices on the moderate side, it's worth budgeting for if you're planning a proper session. All in all, it's a solid choice for a good night out – honest, enjoyable, and just what you need after a day of exploring London.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The steak and ale pie is an absolute winner – it's hearty, delicious, and gets rave reviews from everyone who's tried it.
  • Friendly staff who really make you feel welcome, going the extra mile to ensure a memorable visit.
  • A fantastic selection of beers and drinks, including fresh IPAs and classics, perfect for enjoying with mates.
  • Family-friendly atmosphere in a historic pub with a modern twist, making it a great spot for all ages.
  • Live sports screenings and top amenities like WiFi and being dog-friendly add to the lively vibe.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy and noisy during big events, which might not suit those after a peaceful pint.
  • Opens at midday, so it's not the place for an early breakfast or morning coffee.
  • With a moderate price tag, it might feel a bit steep if you're just popping in for a quick drink.

Group of four. Two had fish & chips and really Loved it. I had steak and ale pie,, and it was Absolutely delicious. Gravy was To die For. Fourth person had the mac & cheese and enjoyed it very much. Definitely WAY better than boxed mac & cheese. One of our party described it as fluffy mac & cheese. The garden peas were served cold, but they were fresh and really . delicious. The mushy peas were nice and hot, and they were very tasty and fresh . (It was our first time having mushy peas). There was a good variety of ciders and beers and booze, not hugely extensive, but certainly more than adequate. We would happily return next time we’re in the area. And the service could not be beat!

We had a very good Steak & Ale Pie, with Estrella and Gin & Tonic. Prince of Wales is a really nice pub, and we enjoy coming here, whether during the day or in the evening.

We both had the steak and ale pie. I had chips and mushy peas, husband had mashed potatoes and garden peas. The food was piping hot and we didn’t have a long wait. Would recommend and when we come again, we will try to come in early enough to try the roast! The staff were polite and friendly. Husband booked via the web the night before and that went smoothly.

OMG. That was the most wonderful Steak and Ale pie we have had for many a year. Even better than from a farmers market and we’re from Somerset. Nice selection of ale to go with it. Very Happy.

Darpan Was An Absolutely Amazing Bartender! He Made Our Experience Truly Memorable With His Fun And Helpful Personality. He Went Above And Beyond To Ensure We Had A Great Time. The Beer Selection Was Fantastic, And The Level Head IPA Was Exceptional—Fresh, Flavorful, And Perfectly Balanced. If You’re A Fan Of IPAs, I Highly Recommend Giving It A Try. We’ll Definitely Be Coming Back and you can meet us here anytime you’re here.
