About This Pub
Ah, the Prince of Brewers – it's one of those pubs that really pulls you in with its warm, friendly vibe, especially if you're popping in for a casual catch-up or to cheer on your team. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel welcome, and with 16 TVs blasting out all the major sports channels, it's a proper haven for footie or rugby lovers. The prices are dead reasonable too, so you can enjoy a solid pint without worrying about the wallet, and they've got a lovely beer garden that's spot on for sunnier days, complete with heating for those chillier evenings. Plus, the entertainment lineup with karaoke, live acts, and even a function room for bigger dos adds a fun twist that keeps things lively. On the downside, though, I've heard a few stories about the TVs playing up now and then, which could put a damper on watching the game, and it's not always the best for those seeking premium real ales, as one person found theirs a bit off. Still, overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed night out in Burton, and I'd say it's worth a visit if you're after good company and a no-fuss pint.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the get-go.
-
It's a brilliant spot for catching the big games with 16 TVs showing Sky Sports, BT, and more – perfect for a lively atmosphere.
-
Prices are spot on for a good value pint, with a great selection like Heineken, Carling, and various cask ales to choose from.
-
They've got a cracking beer garden with seating, heating, and even outdoor TVs, plus fun extras like a pool table, darts, and free Wi-Fi.
-
The function room upstairs is ideal for parties or events, holding over 100 people with its own bar, and they host entertaining nights with DJs, karaoke, and live acts.
Cons
-
There can be occasional glitches with the TVs, like sound issues or channels cutting out, which might spoil watching a match.
-
Some folks have mentioned the beer not always being top-notch, with one review noting an off ale that didn't live up to expectations.
-
It might feel a bit more geared towards casual vibes rather than serious real ale enthusiasts, so it could disappoint if that's your thing.

Lovely pub, went in to watch the football. The lady behind the bar was very nice and helpful.
Visited for the first time recently found the team there very welcoming with Matt at the helm feel it will soon become the go to venue in burton
This is a lovely pub, everyone is friendly and welcoming even for people who don't live in the area. There is plenty of seating, disco and karoake night was great, there is also a pool table and a lovely beer garden. We will definitely be visiting again
Went to watch a game of rugby on sky sports. It was like pulling teeth. No sound on the TV when we did find the right channel sky sports active. Most of the TV are linked to sound system on extra loud giving football commentary. Game went off 5 times and staff to busy to sort it. Beer is cheap and nondescript. Won't bother again.
Certainly not one of the best places for real ale in Burton: My Hobgoblin on tap was off, with a vinegary smell and taste. This shouldn't happen at a pub that serves hand-pumped ales. The pub itself is all right I guess, but appeals more to undemanding punters - I could tell that those who were there when I was there were certainly rather vulgar people. The JD Wetherspoon pub "The Lord Burton" is right next door - and though it appeals to the same kind of patrons, it's actually considerably better, and cheaper - and they keep their beers fresh!
