About This Pub

Ah, the Prince George in Milton Keynes is one of those pubs that feels like a proper local gem – you know, the kind where you can pop in for a quick bite or linger over a drink with friends. From what I've gathered, the food really shines, particularly their spit-roasted chicken dishes, which folks rave about for being tasty and spot on when done right. The service often gets a thumbs up too, with staff who are efficient and add a nice personal touch to your visit. Plus, it's got that homely feel with outdoor areas for when the weather's playing ball and it's welcoming to dogs, which is always a bonus for us animal lovers. On the other hand, it's not flawless – some have mentioned the portions can be a bit skimpy, and there are times when the food doesn't quite hit the mark, like dry chicken or bland sides that leave you wishing for more. Still, with its solid reputation, it's worth checking out if you're nearby; just go in with an open mind and maybe pair it with one of their cracking drinks to round off the experience nicely.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is a real highlight, especially their spit-roasted chicken – it's juicy and packed with flavour, making it a go-to for a satisfying meal.
  • Service is generally spot on, with friendly staff who make you feel welcome and get things done efficiently.
  • It's super dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're popping in with your furry friend for a drink or bite.
  • The atmosphere is lovely, with outdoor seating for sunny days and an open fire to cosy up by on chillier evenings.
  • They've got a great selection of beers, cocktails, and wines, so there's something for everyone whether you're in the mood for a pint or a fancy tipple.
Cons
  • Some dishes can be a bit hit or miss, like the chicken occasionally turning out dry or the chips lacking that extra oomph.
  • Portions aren't always as generous as you'd hope, which might leave you wanting more after a main meal.
  • The service team doesn't always seem in the cheeriest mood, which can dampen the vibe on busier days.
  • If you're not a fan of chicken, options might feel a tad limited compared to other pubs with more variety.

Had a really nice dinner at The Prince George the other night. It’s got that perfect balance of a modern pub feel without losing the cozy, relaxed vibe. I went with a friend after work—no booking, just walked in—and we were seated straight away, which was a good start. I had the beef and ale pie, and it was properly comforting—rich filling, flaky pastry, and the mash was spot on. The peas had that minty twist which I actually really liked. Only thing I wasn’t crazy about were the chips—could’ve been crispier, but not a dealbreaker. My mate had the chicken skewer and was really happy with it—looked fresh and well-seasoned. Service was friendly and laid-back, which suited the mood. Our waitress checked in just enough to feel looked after but not rushed. And I’ve got to say, the cookie dough sundae for dessert? Absolute winner. Gave it 4 stars only because the food was just a tiny step away from being great—but it’s still a place I’d happily come back to, especially for a casual evening or Sunday lunch. Good spot, good energy.

This pub majors on roast/ grilled chicken dishes ... and was surprisingly good. This is principally because of the high quality of the chicken meat being used. Every mouthful was succulent & tasty. There were a few other, none-chicken options available but if you don't like chicken it may be best to find somewhere else to avoid disappointment. If you do (like chicken), you are in for a treat at a very comfortable price point that's not in any way compromised by the service, which was friendly & efficient.

Fairly standard, ordered feta pasta and was a very small portion for a main meal, half chicken was OK, bit dryer than I'd have liked. Service ok but waitresses didn't look overly happy. Ok if you want a quick lunch and not too badly priced

Hollie, our waitress, was absolutely lovely. Our food, however, was not as good as on previous occasions. We had the Valentines sharing menu - garlic bread was hard, maybe been out for a while? The chicken was dry and chips had no flavour to them. Dessert was faultless.
