About This Pub

Ah, Post House in Belfast – it's one of those places that really captures the spirit of a good old neighbourhood bar, isn't it? Tucked away on Malone Road, it's got this lovely, historical charm that makes you feel right at home, whether you're popping in for a quick pint, catching some live music, or tucking into a hearty Sunday roast with the match on in the background. The drinks are spot on, and when the food hits the mark, like that delicious fish and chips someone's raved about, it's just brilliant for a relaxed catch-up with mates. But, and I say this with a bit of honesty, it's not all smooth sailing – the service can be patchy at times, with staff occasionally coming across as disinterested, which is a real shame because the place has so much potential. I've heard tales of meals arriving cold or not quite as promised, and that can leave you feeling a tad let down after forking out for it. Still, if you're after a spot with character and a welcoming vibe on its good days, it's worth giving it a go, just maybe keep expectations in check for the finer details.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely charming and welcoming, making it a great spot to unwind with friends over a pint or a meal.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of drinks, hearty classics on the menu, and specials like Sunday roasts that pair nicely with live music or sports on the big screens.
  • Its location on the iconic Malone Road adds a touch of history and elegance, perfect for those lazy afternoons or evenings out in Belfast.
  • When the staff are on form, they're genuinely friendly and attentive, which really enhances the experience.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit hit and miss – sometimes it's sporadic or the team seems a tad unfriendly, which puts a damper on things.
  • Food quality isn't always up to scratch; there have been complaints about dishes being overcooked or cold, leaving you a bit disappointed.
  • The place can feel a little confused, like it's trying to be both a cosy pub and a proper restaurant, which might not suit everyone.
  • On busier nights, the vibe can turn a bit cold, with the building itself feeling unwelcoming despite the lovely decor.

Paid £30 each for a beef Wellington that was overcooked and cold. Our kids didn't eat their meals either. I told the waiter about how bad the meal was, and was handed the bill, with not even a pint taken off. The staff were great tbf but the atmosphere was as cold as the building itself.

Service is sporadic. Arriving felt like a restaurant, asking if we had a booking? Service is more being in a public bar. Seems confused and service was very poor, without disrespect to any of the staff who were friendly. Food was average. Atmosphere and surroundings very nice.

I had the pleasure of dining at this charming pub during my stay in Belfast. The atmosphere was welcoming, and the beers were fantastic, accompanied by a delicious fish and chips. What truly made the experience special was the young server who took care of us. Not only was he attentive and friendly, but he also had a great smile that brightened the whole evening. A little heart skip, I must say! 😊 Hopefully, I'll get the chance to visit again one day, and who knows, maybe I'll even show him around France. Thanks for the wonderful experience! P.S. To the young server: You made the evening even more memorable with your kindness. If you ever find yourself in France, I’d be more than happy to show you around. Take care!

Lovely decor, and atmosphere, great spot for a casual drink with friends. Service is the let down with staff being unfriendly both times I've been in but not necessarily unpleasant. Give off the vibe that they don't really want to be there.

This bar is absolutely stunning! From the moment you step inside, you’re immersed in a beautifully designed space that’s full of charm and character. The interior is a perfect blend of elegance and creativity, with thoughtful details in every corner—whether it’s the ambient lighting, stylish furniture, or unique decor elements that make the place truly one of a kind. The vibe here is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a date night, a catch-up with friends, or even just to enjoy a quiet drink surrounded by beauty. Highly recommend - just be mindful the price is a little higher than average.
