About This Pub

Ah, the Plough in Enfield—it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem, especially if you're popping in after a wander around the nearby gardens. I've got to say, what really stands out is the fantastic outdoor space; it's perfect for soaking up the sun with a cold pint of their locally brewed real ales or enjoying a bite in the fresh air, and it's so family-oriented with that play area for the kids. The food's a highlight too—think hearty roasts and pies that hit the mark without breaking the bank, plus some fun options like halloumi fries that folks rave about. The staff are an absolute treat, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after, which adds to that warm, homely vibe. On the flip side, though, it can get a bit hectic on busier days, and the service might not be as snappy as you'd hope if they're swamped, so it's worth planning ahead if you're in a rush. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed outing, and with its history dating back to 1905, there's a nice bit of character that makes you want to come back for more—whether it's for a quick lunch or a proper evening with mates.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The outdoor space is absolutely brilliant, especially on a sunny day—plenty of room to relax with friends and family, and it's even got a fab play area for the little ones.
  • It's super dog-friendly, which is a real bonus if you're out for a walk and fancy a pit stop.
  • The food hits the spot; think tasty roasts, pies, and some cracking sides like onion rings and halloumi fries, all at reasonable prices.
  • Staff are genuinely friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home with their smiles and helpful service.
  • Being in the heart of Crews Hill, it's got that lovely garden vibe with flowers everywhere, and it's wheelchair accessible too, which is great for everyone.
Cons
  • Service can sometimes struggle when things get busy, like on a packed Sunday with the roasts flying out, so you might wait a bit for attention.
  • While the atmosphere is relaxed, it might feel a tad quiet if you're after a lively buzz, depending on the time you visit.

Lovely pub with loads of outside space. Dog friendly and great for a sunny day. We had a roast and a pie. Was good.

I attended the Plough on Thursday evening (08/05/25) with a friend for an early birthday dinner. We were shown to our table straight away and our waitress Ellie was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Service with a smile. We were not rushed to order which was great as we had a lot of catching up to do but Ellie was on hand when needed. The food was lovely especially the Profiteroles and my friend and I both had a very enjoyable evening.

Went here for a quick bite to eat whilst at a garden centre, friendly staff, food was spot on and reasonably priced. would definitely go here again and would highly recommend onion ring nests, halloumi fries and jalapeno dipper

AUTHENTIC PERUVIAN BAR FOOD - barbecue and cooked on site. A real gem of a find, a real locals pub with characterful beers. Tiny Rebel, Supercute 'CryBaby' and Salt "Alpaca Lypse" were supped alongside Peruvian Crispy Pork Belly, Chorizo and barbecue chicken... served with homemade slaw and dressed Peruvian potatoes. The chef picante sauce added warmth. A pleasant change, not boring pub usuals. Thoroughly recommended if your palate likes tickling with taste and texture. Authentic Peruvian bar food and Chef.

Visited Sunday afternoon after visiting Crews Hill Nurseries. Quite and relaxed atmosphere but busy tables with Sunday roast offering being popular. Nicely decorated and well lit in many seating parts. Service was friendly but somewhat struggling with the load and need for attention. Food was out quickly. Nice plating but I wished for larger portions. Reasonably priced for north London. Worth revising on more relaxed day.
