About This Pub

Ah, P J Molloy & Sons – it's one of those places in Dunfermline that really comes alive with live music, isn't it? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this cracking vibe for gigs, where you can catch up-and-coming bands and just lose yourself in the energy. The staff are dead helpful and the drinks flow nicely, making it a top choice for a night out with mates. But let's be honest, it's not all perfect – the noise from the crowd can sometimes overpower the music, and if you're not keen on stairs, it might not be the easiest spot to navigate. Plus, a few mentions of it being a bit cold or the facilities needing a spruce-up. Overall, though, if you're after a proper pub experience with great tunes, it's worth a punt, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a belter of a time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a brilliant spot for live music and gigs – the atmosphere really gets you in the mood for a good night out.
  • The staff are always friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • They've got a solid selection of drinks, and there's plenty of space to find your spot, whether you're up for dancing or just chilling.
Cons
  • The crowds can get a bit rowdy and noisy, which sometimes makes it hard to hear the bands properly.
  • It's not the most accessible place with those stairs everywhere, so it might not suit everyone.
  • It can feel a tad chilly inside at times, and the toilets could do with a bit of an upgrade to make things more comfortable.

At PJs to see a Bon Jovi tribute, who were absolutely excellent. He venue is good from the point of view of finding a variety of places to stand and the option to stand on the stairs to see over tall people in front. The punters, though, were noisy, chatting, shouting and sometimes even shrieking all the way through the performance, including the quiet numbers, which is hugely disrespectful to the performers and to those who wanted to hear the music. A shame.

Cracking venue for live bands and a few drinks. Very much a live music venue that should have more up and coming bands/Singers. Great to have in the town. Not disabled friendly due to the stairs down to the dancefloor/stage but there may be an alternative access point.

Went to watch a live gig the band were fantastic but the place was like a fridge. For an intimate live music place it's just the place to go. I went to see CCR and it was a fantastic night.

Great venue for a gig. Enjoyed the bands' performances. We were there on a Thursday so a bit less busy but would be brilliant if mobbed. Plenty bands advertised, so give it a go, maybe one weekend. Good choice of drinks at the bars. Friendly staff, well done to them. Only negative, toilets should be checked more regularly, so one star down.
