About This Pub
Ah, Other Monkey Brewing – what a lovely little find in the heart of Colchester! From what I've gathered from the buzz around, it's clear this place really knows how to brew up a storm with their fresh craft beers that folks rave about. I love how they've got that easy-drinking pale ale as a staple, and the option to try a few varieties through those tasting racks is just genius for anyone wanting to explore without committing to a full pint. The staff sound like absolute stars, always on hand with a smile and expert advice, which makes popping in feel like catching up with old friends. Pair that with some tasty food like their burgers and bao, and you've got yourself a proper treat. The atmosphere is another highlight, with those rustic wooden beams giving it a cosy, traditional feel that fits right in with the local scene. But, let's be fair, it's not all perfect – the opening times can be a bit of a puzzle, and it might not suit if you're after a lively night out, as it can sometimes be on the quieter side. Still, for beer enthusiasts or anyone looking for a relaxed spot to chat and enjoy good grub, it's well worth a visit. All in all, it's a solid choice that strikes a nice balance between quality and that welcoming pub charm we'd all appreciate.

Outstanding service from the gentlemen on the bar on 11/12/25 evening. Really knowledgeable and friendly and a brilliant selection of home brewed beers at competitive prices. I was just visiting for one night and had a brilliant time at this pub.
Saturday evening - not too busy upstairs, but still had a nice atmosphere. Love the open wooden roof beams. Decent ales.
A very nice tap room. The crafted beer is excellent. And the staff is very nice and friendly. Wonderful experience!
Mac and team were absolutely amazing! My husband and I booked our wedding reception quite short notice at OMB and he more than delivered the perfect night for us! OMB is such an amazing gem, with great food and drinks. The place completely fits our vibes with the dark blues and greens and Tudor interior! Highly recommend. Although we were at max capacity the were no issues and service remained smooth throughout.
Had a lovely visit to the taproom, tried a Bao with beef brisket which was nice, as well as obviously trying a variety of beers! What I particularly liked was that you could get a tasting rack of 3 x third pints and thus try a selection of beers you perhaps wouldn't otherwise try.
Following some of the social media, it looks like they are adding a few more menu items / special food days, so will be keeping an eye on those!
