About This Pub

You know, when I think about Oscars in Morley, it's got that real community feel that's hard to beat – a proper spot for sinking into a great pint of ale or trying out some high-end gins. From what I've seen in the reviews, folks absolutely rave about the beer selection; it's fresh, varied, and the staff are dead passionate about it, which makes every visit feel like chatting with old friends over a drink. That 4.7 rating speaks volumes, with most people giving it top marks for the atmosphere and service. On the other hand, it's a bit of a mixed bag lately with some changes to the place – they've redone the bar and it's smaller now, which a couple of reviewers weren't too chuffed about, and there might be times when not everything's on tap. Still, if you're in Leeds and fancy a relaxed evening, I'd say it's worth a go; just keep an eye on the opening times so you don't miss out. All in all, it's a solid choice with its ups and downs, like any good local haunt.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of beers and ales, including cask options that really hit the spot for any real ale fan.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, always up for a chat about their brews which makes the visit feel personal and welcoming.
  • It's got a solid reputation with a 4.7 rating from plenty of happy visitors, showing it's a reliable choice for a good night out.
  • Despite being on the smaller side, the cosy atmosphere creates a nice, intimate vibe that's perfect for catching up with mates.
Cons
  • Some recent changes to the bar, like ripping out the old setup and making it smaller, haven't sat well with everyone and might make it feel a bit cramped.
  • It's only open a few days a week with fairly limited hours, which could be a hassle if you're hoping for a spontaneous pint.
  • There have been mentions of issues with beer pumps not always working, so you might not get the full selection every time you pop in.

Second review Well the original Oscars have sold it to another person and a few changes have been made, not for the best. The whole bar has been ripped out and a tiled bar has been put in instead, with only half the amount of the original place, there is two cask pumps which when we went were both off and the place is dead, absolutely no atmosphere at all. Sometimes change isn't for the best First review Fantastic little bar, super beer choice and really helpful staff, don't know how they get so much into small space?? ***** five stars.

A regular entry in the Good Beer Guide is totally justified for the quality of cask ale poured here. Great staff passionate about beer - Morley Bottoms have a great ale scene happening 👍🏻

The best bar in Morley hands down. Yes it’s small but that’s nice. It’s all about the amazing fresh beer & high end gins. The place has been a revelation since the new owner took over. Can’t recommend it highly enough.
