About This Pub
Ah, the Oak Tree in Rednal – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to make you feel right at home, you know? From the moment you walk in, the staff are just lovely, always ready with a smile and that personal touch, like sorting out a surprise birthday plate or making sure your dog gets treated like royalty. The menu's a winner too, packed with hearty mains, pizzas you can customise, and puddings that'll have you eyeing seconds, all at prices that won't break the bank, especially with those tempting offers like 30% off. It's brilliant for families or after a stroll in the Lickey Hills, with a cracking beer garden to soak up the sun. But, and I have to be straight with you, it's not perfect – some reviews mentioned the food falling short, like a steak that was chewy or veg options that didn't quite hit the mark, which is a shame when the rest is so good. Overall, I'd say it's worth a visit for the atmosphere and service, just keep expectations in check and maybe stick to the crowd-pleasers for a solid night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant, always welcoming and going the extra mile to make you feel at home – like that warm greeting from Sally or Stacey that really sets the tone for a great visit.
-
They've got a cracking menu with delicious, generous portions; think magnificent mains, personalised pizzas, and some top-notch puds that leave you satisfied.
-
It's super family-friendly and dog-friendly too, perfect for popping in after a walk with the whole gang, including your furry mate, and they've even got a lovely pub garden for enjoying the outdoors.
-
With deals like 30% off mains and a range of events, it's a budget-friendly spot that's great for casual meet-ups or larger gatherings.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be hit or miss, like the steak that was tough as old boots in one review, or fried items that seemed overdone and not quite fresh.
-
A few folks have mentioned that the food didn't always live up to expectations, especially for vegetarians or when things aren't cooked just right, which is a bit disappointing after that initial warm welcome.
-
It might not be the most consistent experience every time, as a couple of reviews pointed out issues with food quality despite the overall positive vibe.

Delicious food and a warm welcome from Sally on the bar and Gina waiting on our table. Really well set up for our dog who was given 5 star treatment! Recommend the weekday lunch of scampi and chips, great size portions and perfectly cooked.
Had a really nice meal with a group of friends. Was impressed by the welcome I received from Stacey & Alisha as I arrived late and they immediately took my order so that it would come out with the rest of the group.
Food was delicious, very plentiful and beautifully presented.
Overall an excellent experience. Thank you!
After a walk on the Lickey Hills, we decided to stop at this pub for a drink and a bite to eat, drawn by its lovely location. The gentleman at the bar was very welcoming and helpful, setting a positive tone for our visit.
Unfortunately, the food did not meet expectations. I ordered the vegetarian potato and leek pie, which arrived with a rock-hard crust, making it difficult to eat. I returned it to the bar, and they kindly replaced it with another. However, the second pie was just as disappointing, if not worse. I chose not to raise the issue again, as it felt awkward to do so twice.
It's a shame, as the setting and service were pleasant, but the quality of the food left much to be desired.
Staff amazing/Food was pretty shocking….. I’m not sure where to start really, a chainsaw could not get through the steak on 2 attempts , the food that had been fried was really dark as if it had been sat around too long or the oil had not been changed!
Good job we had some backup food for the baby, 2 of the meals had items missing as it was not in stock but we were not told, we were a large party and normally pretty easy the please, drinks are really expensive to which you can normally get over if the food was good.
Staff were amazing and a credit to the place, I’ll go back if I hear there’s a new kitchen team.
Place was nice and clean all over too!
