About This Pub

You know, when I popped into Northern Social Club, it had that warm, familiar feel of a proper local bar where you can just unwind with a pint. The staff really stand out – they're so chatty and make you feel like part of the gang straight away, which is just what you want on a night out. Plus, the prices are spot on for keeping things budget-friendly, and they've given the place a nice spruce-up lately, so it's looking sharp without losing that homely charm. It's ace for catching live music too; some folks rave about the bands playing there, making it a go-to for a bit of entertainment. But, on the downside, a few reviews mentioned the crowd leaning towards the older side, which could make it feel a tad quiet if you're in the mood for something more lively. And watch out – one person had their drink swiped while they nipped out, which is a bit of a nuisance. The rooms can also get nippy, especially the larger ones, so you might want to layer up. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening, but it's worth going in with your eyes open to those little niggles – that way, you can decide if it's your kind of spot.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • Prices are really affordable, so it's a great spot if you're looking for good value without breaking the bank.
  • It's been recently redecorated, giving the place a fresh and inviting look that adds to the cosy atmosphere.
  • You can catch some brilliant live bands and groups here, which makes for a fun night out with a relaxed vibe.
Cons
  • Some evenings attract an older crowd, which might not suit everyone if you're after a more energetic or youthful scene.
  • There have been reports of drinks being taken from tables, which can put a damper on things if you're not keeping a close eye.
  • The bigger rooms can get quite chilly, so you might end up needing your coat on even indoors.

Enjoyed myself locals and staff were friendly enough quite chatty. Unhappy that we got a full pint of Coors stolen from our table whilst we went outside for a vape for a few minutes. First time here so a bit off putting this happening to us.
