About This Pub

Oh, Ninety-Nine is one of those hidden gems in Aberdeen that I've heard so much about from mates, and from what I've seen in the reviews, it's spot on for a relaxed night out. The food really steals the show – people rave about the fresh pasta dishes and those mouthwatering croquettes, all made with top-notch ingredients that make every bite feel special. Pair that with the cocktails, which are crafted with real flair, and you've got a winning combo, especially since they do mocktails too if you're not in the mood for booze. The staff are an absolute delight, always engaging and making sure you feel looked after, which adds to that neighbourhood feel. But, let's be honest, it's not perfect; the menu's a bit on the compact side, so if you're hoping for loads of options, you might end up disappointed. Plus, some folks mention the portions aren't massive, like with the bao buns, and the drinks can dent your wallet a touch. It gets lively and noisy at times, which is great for a fun vibe but not ideal if you're after a peaceful catch-up. All in all, if you're up for solid grub and good company in a central spot, it's worth a punt – just keep those points in mind for a balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious fresh pasta, beef shin ragu, and tasty bites like croquettes and stuffed mushrooms that leave you wanting more.
  • Service is top-notch; the staff are warm, attentive, and make you feel right at home, creating a welcoming vibe from the moment you walk in.
  • Drinks are a highlight, with expertly crafted cocktails and even mocktails available if you're driving or skipping alcohol, and they're reasonably priced for a city centre spot.
  • It's got a solid reputation with an overall rating of 4.5, backed by plenty of positive feedback on the food and atmosphere.
Cons
  • The menu is quite small, so if you're after a wide variety, you might find it a bit limited.
  • Some portions, like the bao buns, can feel a tad small for the price, leaving you wishing for a bit more.
  • Cocktails are lovely but can be on the pricey side, which might add up if you're planning a longer evening.
  • It can get pretty loud inside, which might make it tricky for a quiet chat, especially on busier nights.
  • With opening hours mainly Thursday to Monday and early closures on some days, it might not suit everyone for a spontaneous mid-week visit.

We have been here a number of times now across many years and always had great food. Firstly Scottish Tapas, then Bao buns, now fresh pasta. We had Beef Shin Ragu and Chicken Parma, both delicious with perfect pasta. A tiny menu but well executed. Quiet today as the sun was shining and they have no outdoor seating but have always felt lucky to get a seat in the past. Lovely bar staff and nice ambiance.

Just went in purely by chance on way to a show. Absolutely delightful waitress - so engaging created a lovely welcoming atmosphere straight away. Drinks were very reasonably priced for being in city centre . We will definately visit again when next in town

The food... Amazing. The croquettes and the stuffed mushroom are simply too good. I could have had 5 of each. The service was also great, both at the bar and also at the table. If I'd live here I'd come every week

Delicious and fresh food. Only one objection is that the bao buns are a bit small and can be part of a set, not a dish on its own. Apart that everything was good. The portion of fries was generous. Nice and attentive staff.

The food is absolutely amazing, can't fault it honestly and for a good price too. The cocktails are very good but a bit pricey in my opinion. However, if you ask, they can prepare a mocktail for you, which is what we did on our last visit. The place can be very loud, which can lower the experience for me but the staff is very nice and accommodating.
