About This Pub
Ah, the Newcastle Packet – it's one of those timeless Scarborough gems that just draws you in with its rich history and that inviting log burner on a chilly day. I love how it really comes alive with karaoke every weekend and live bands during the holidays; it's such a fun spot to let your hair down and join in the merriment, especially with that massive song list and crystal-clear sound system keeping things upbeat. The staff are always chipping in with a smile and a chat, and the prices won't break the bank, making it a go-to for a relaxed drink by the sea. On the flip side, though, it does pack out quickly on busier nights, so planning ahead is key if you fancy a comfy spot, and if you pop in during quieter hours, it might not have that full-on energy you're after. All in all, it's a solid choice for a memorable night out – just go with the flow and you'll have a cracking time!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing with regular karaoke sessions and live bands, making it a brilliant spot for a sing-along and a good laugh with mates.
-
Friendly staff and a warm welcome, complete with historic features and a cosy log-burning stove, really make you feel right at home.
-
It's got a prime location right by the Scarborough seafront, with reasonable prices and a clean environment that's perfect for enjoying a pint while soaking in the views.
-
Karaoke boasts a huge selection of songs and a top-notch sound system, catering to both locals and visitors, especially during the holiday season.
Cons
-
It can get incredibly busy, particularly on weekends and evenings with live music, so you might struggle to snag a seat if you don't arrive early.
-
Some visits might feel a bit quiet during off-peak times, like early afternoons, which could disappoint if you're after that lively vibe.
-
With no kids allowed, it's more geared towards adults, so it might not suit families looking for a relaxed outing.

Only stopped for a quick drink, it was virtually empty but I would imagine when it's busier it's probably a decent place for a night out!
Visited this place for drinks while in Scarborough before going up to castle. What a lively place it is. You can call it bar for regulars. It was full packed when i visited which shows its popularity in the area. Friendly staff with welcoming vibes. Located in front of beach which means hell busy in summer times.
Pleasant and friendly visited early on a Sunday so cannot judge too much. But live music and karaoke in the afternoons. Great location no kids allowed.
The best place for a pint on the seafront. Very vibrant and loud with friendly people and staff. Prices are reasonable and the environment is clean.
We went on Sunday afternoon and it was bustling with life. a full karaoke session was on and it was worth sitting and enjoying live stuff.
