About This Pub

Ah, the New Market Bar in Falkirk – it's one of those local gems that really hits the spot for a relaxed evening out. I love how the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome, whether it's your first visit or you're a regular; they've got that friendly chat that makes the place feel like a proper community hub. The atmosphere is buzzing, especially with all the live sports on offer – think Premier League action or rugby matches on big screens – and at such affordable prices, it's easy to settle in for the night. Plus, it's great for families or if you've got the dog in tow after a stroll. On the downside, though, service isn't always spot on; it can drag a bit when things get busy, and some folks have mentioned food niggles, like chips that come out too salty or not being able to tweak orders, which might leave you a tad disappointed. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laugh with friends, but I'd say keep expectations realistic and maybe avoid peak times if you're in a rush. Still, with its cosy vibe and value for money, it's worth popping by for a pint or two.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • It's got a lively atmosphere with live sports on the screens, perfect for catching the footie or rugby with mates
  • Prices are spot on for a budget-friendly night out, with great deals on food and drinks that won't break the bank
  • They're dog-friendly, which is a lovely touch if you've just come in from a walk
  • Plenty of facilities like a beer garden, pool table, and even a function area for get-togethers
Cons
  • Service can be a bit slow at times, especially when the place is buzzing and the kitchen's under pressure
  • Some food items have had mixed reviews, like overly salty chips or dry dishes that could do with more gravy
  • They're not always flexible with the menu, such as not allowing swaps for sides, which might frustrate if you're picky
  • The overall operation can feel a tad amateurish in spots, like with drink service or timing of meals

I ordered a starter and a main meal, both arrived at the same time, the server told me I couldn't swap chips for mash, reluctantly I took chips but there was salt on the chips, if I want salt (which I don't like) I can put it on myself, the whole operation including the drinks side seem amateur

Great atmosphere, really friendly staff and locals. Made us feel very welcome and made sure our dogs had treats and water. A fab way to rest our legs after a long walk.

Dinner with friends. I arrived after others had their food, as they were early. Service was pretty slow, but possibly the kitchen was busy. Some of the food was dry and hard (Yorkshire pudding) and not enough gravy in the portion size to soften things. It was tasty overall though. Good atmosphere and a decent number of locals in, so is a decent pub in general.
