Mount in York

You know, I reckon The Mount is one of those pubs that just hits the spot for a laid-back evening in York. The staff are an absolute delight – think big smiles and that proper landlady charm that makes everything feel so welcoming and homely, like you're catching up with old friends. They've got a good mix of beers and ciders at fair prices, and little extras like the pool table and outdoor seating really add to the fun, especially if you're popping in with the dog or for one of their events, like a burlesque show that sounded like a blast. It's got that family-friendly feel that's hard to beat for a relaxed pint. But, to be fair, it's not without its downsides – I heard from a mate that they missed out on cask ales when they went, which is a shame for a traditional spot like this. Plus, their website was a right pain to access, so you might struggle to check the latest on hours or what's on offer. All in all, though, it's a solid choice if you're after a friendly local with a bit of character, just keep those little hiccups in mind before you head over.
