About This Pub
Ah, the Middlesex Arms – it's one of those local gems in Ruislip that really comes alive during big sporting events, like the Women's Euros, where you can settle in with a cold beer and soak up the excitement. I have to say, the staff are absolute stars; they're so hands-on and welcoming, always making sure everything's just right, which really adds to that community feel. There's a good mix of amenities too, from the beer garden for a bit of fresh air to pool tables for a fun night out, and it's great that it's open to families and even dogs, so it's not just your typical lads' haunt. On the food front, when it's good, it's genuinely brilliant – I'm thinking of those hearty steaks and chips or a cheeky dessert that hits the spot. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; sometimes the grub takes forever to show up, and it can be a bit hit or miss in terms of taste, with things like burgers coming out overdone or overly greasy, which doesn't always feel like value for money. Weekends can get rammed, so you might struggle for a table, and the buzz from the screens can turn up the volume a notch too high for a quiet chat. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening or match day, as long as you go in with realistic expectations and maybe stick to the drinks if you're in a rush.
Pros and Cons
Pros

-
It's got a brilliant atmosphere for watching live sports, especially with all the big screens and events like the Women's Euros – perfect for gathering with mates.
-
They offer a solid selection of beers and drinks, including a nicely poured Guinness that keeps folks coming back.
-
The pub has great facilities like a beer garden, pool tables, and it's family and dog-friendly, so it's versatile for different occasions.
-
When the food hits the mark, it's spot on – think tasty steaks, chips, and desserts that leave you satisfied and recommending the place.
Cons
-
Food can sometimes take ages to arrive, which might leave you a bit peckish while waiting.
-
The quality of the food isn't always consistent; some dishes come out overcooked or a tad oily, not quite living up to the price.
-
It gets packed on weekends, making it tricky to snag a seat, especially if you're popping in spontaneously.
-
The noise from the telly or crowds can be a bit overwhelming at times, particularly during matches.
-
Portions might not feel worth the spend, like with basic burgers that don't quite justify the cost.

This may start off sounding strange when I’ve given the place 5 stars.
The food took too long to arrive - it was at least half an hour and it didn’t look up to much. Basic burger, patties were tasteless, much too well done. Fries were decent, a couple of onion rings. Definitely not £14 worth though and that didn’t even include a drink. However, the barbecue sauce was nice and here comes the best bit…
Although I was not satisfied with the food, the manager (I assume) did ask how it was and when I said, “Disappointing.” She actually tried to resolve it even though I had already somehow eaten the charcoal burger. I didn’t request anything to rectify the matter but I was simply impressed that this lady cared and said she would have replaced the meal if I had told her (I didn’t fancy waiting for the same period as it took to arrive the first time).
I almost died when I went into the gents toilets and a fire alarm went off as soon as I entered. Didn’t like the look of the one toilet so I just walked out of it and back into the pub.
Anyway, I’m giving them 5 stars for the effort and willingness to give good food and service.
I’m sure this will be a shock to the lady if she ever reads this as I was about to give them 1 star when she approached me.
I’ll call it a bad day at the office for them being saved by a lady with the right attitude. Sometimes effort to satisfy is as good as being satisfied automatically.
Lastly, I’d be happy to train whoever made that burger!
This is a top pub with welcoming and friendly staff. The landlord is present and hands-on and extremely helpful. There is a good range of beers, pool tables and dart boards. And believe this is such a great location. We went there prior to seeing a football game at Wembley
Came here for a drink, ended up having steak and chips followed by a whit chocolate and raspberry blondie! Both were 10/10!
Staff were very friendly and checked everything was well.
100% would recommend anyone in the area to visit this spot. Great food and a great atmosphere.
Local pub, lots of space during week

We had a lovely Sunday roast here last night. When we first walked in the football was on and it was a bit noisy. But after that it was quieter. They were playing some really good music which gave a great atmosphere.
There's a good variety on the menu and something for everyone. The food was really tasty and service was very quick. Definitely will come back!
