About This Pub

Ah, McNasty's – it's one of those pubs that really knows how to bring people together for a good time. From what I've gathered chatting about it, the place shines when it comes to live sports; imagine sinking into a comfy seat with a pint while the game's on one of those 14 massive HD screens – it's pure joy for anyone who loves a match. The karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights adds that extra spark, where you can have a right old singalong and maybe even discover your inner star, all in a welcoming environment thanks to the friendly staff who go out of their way to make you feel part of the gang. They've got some cracking cocktails on tap too, which were a first for an independent pub like this, and the food options seem solid for a casual lunch or evening out. But, let's be straight, it isn't perfect – prices can creep up a bit, especially for drinks, and on busy days, you might find yourself jostling for space or turned away if tables are hogged by the regulars, which has left a few feeling a tad underwhelmed. Still, with an overall solid rating and that homely touch from the family owners, I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're up for a lively night out in Aberdeen, just maybe plan ahead and keep an eye on your budget.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely buzzing, especially with all those massive HD screens showing live sports – it's a proper treat for footie fans and more.
  • Karaoke nights on Fridays and Saturdays are a blast; it's all about having a laugh and belting out your favourite tunes in a welcoming setting.
  • The staff are lovely and really make you feel at home, with that family-owned vibe from the owners Stephen, Linda, and Shelley.
  • They've got a great selection of drinks, including unique cocktails on tap like Espresso Passion Fruit and Gordon's Pink Martinis, and the food menu looks spot on for a casual bite.
  • Plenty of space inside and even an 'Al Fresco' area outside for enjoying a pint or watching the game in the fresh air.
Cons
  • Drinks can be a bit on the pricey side, which might put a dent in your wallet if you're planning a long session.
  • It gets really busy, especially during big events or karaoke nights, and you might struggle to snag a table if it's reserved for regulars.
  • Some folks have mentioned a lack of atmosphere at quieter times, and it can feel a tad exclusive if you're not a regular.
  • The place is popular, so you could end up waiting around or not getting the full experience if it's packed to the gills.

As far as sports bars go, McNasty's lives up to the name with its several wide-screen tvs showing all manner of sports, its dart boards and its sports memorabilia lining the walls at every turn (even the urinals have goal posts in them). Pints pricey can be a tad on the steep end for anything not Tennents (£6 for Madri), but it's still a worthwhile place to visit and the staff are very friendly.

Good atmosphere the national was on so pretty busy, good selection of beer on draught and good selection of spirits and cocktails at a decent price, didn't have food but menu looks decent and decent price

Never had food. Meeting mates for a horse racing day. Couldn't get a table because they were all reserved for "regulars" overpriced and no atmosphere. So we all left and found a better, more inviting place to enjoy our day, which we all did.

Wasn’t sure about the name, but absolutely lovely inside! Lovely, efficient staff. Soup of the day: delicious, in a cute tureen, with very fresh bread. Comfy leather chairs, wooden mouldings & decorative wrought iron: olde worlde charm with modern comfort & convenience. So much signed sporting (& musical!) memorabilia! I couldn’t even count how many big TVs - pretty sure you can see one from anywhere in this pub!
