About This Pub
Ah, Mail Coach Northampton – what a gem in the heart of Northampton! From what I've gathered chatting about places like this, it's got that perfect mix of relaxed vibes and excitement, especially if you're up for watching the footy or catching an open mic night. Folks have raved about the wide range of drinks, from craft beers to rum cocktails, and the food doesn't disappoint either – think delicious pizzas and vegan options that hit the spot, even for a quick pre-theatre meal. The service stands out too; it's warm and attentive, making every visit feel personal. On the flip side, it can be a tad frustrating if the kitchen's under maintenance, leaving the menu a bit sparse when you fancy a proper nosh. Overall, it's a solid choice for a night out with friends, offering great value with their deals, but I'd say pop in knowing it might not always have the full spread. If you're after a place that's got heart and a bit of character, this one's worth a punt – just keep an eye on their updates for the best experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is spot on for a good laugh with mates, especially with live music, open mic nights, and sports on the telly – it's buzzing and welcoming.
-
They've got a cracking selection of craft beers, cocktails, and even tasty non-alcoholic options like Guinness 0.0, plus solid food choices including vegan burgers and pizzas.
-
Service is top-notch; the staff really go the extra mile, making you feel right at home, as one reviewer mentioned their brilliant experience with Michael.
-
It's conveniently located near the Royal & Derngate, perfect for a pre-theatre bite or drink, and they've got deals like 2-4-1 cocktails and bottomless brunches that add real value.
Cons
-
The menu can be a bit limited at times, like when kitchen work is going on, which might put a damper on things if you're after a full meal.
-
With no reviews in the last six months from the ones we've seen, it might not be as lively online lately, so you could miss out on the latest buzz before heading in.

Had a wonderful day, full of laughs, fizz, cocktails, good food, great service (Thank you Michael ) and the best company!! We laughed, we cried, we cried laughing and all whilst being filled to the brim with alcohol (and the off mocktail for some)!! Just what we all needed. Definitely recommend!!
Great time at Thursday's open mic 🎤 with Charlie Sumner. Plenty of local talent.
It's a relaxed place to spend a fun time with friends and family. I liked the variety of beers and cocktails, and the snacks tasted great. I want to come back someday when there's live music or to watch a rugby match on TV. There might be a fun atmosphere.
Had a delightful pre-theatre meal here yesterday ( very handy for the Royal & Derngate) We both had the vegan burger with fries and I also tried Guinness 0.0 which was surprisingly tasty too
We went in for a quick lunch today and although there was a limited menu due to work being carried out in the kitchen. There was still quite a varied pizza menu. The pizza we had was delicious, so would definitely recommend.
