About This Pub

Ah, Cosgrove Bar – it's one of those unpretentious spots in Belfast that just hits the mark for a relaxed pint and a chat. I have to say, what really stands out is how affordable everything is; grabbing a Guinness for £5 makes it feel like a proper value-for-money evening, especially when you're catching up with mates. The staff are absolute gems, always up for a laugh and making sure you're looked after, and the live music? Well, that singer is a highlight – they really bring the place to life with their energy. It's got that classic Irish pub charm without being swamped by tourists, so if you're after an authentic Belfast feel, this is your go-to. On the downside, though, it wraps up at 11 PM, which can put a dampener on things if you're in the mood for a late one, and without an official website, you might end up winging it a bit. All in all, it's a solid choice for a cosy night out – honest, down-to-earth, and just what you need after a long day.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The prices are spot on – like getting a pint of Guinness for just £5, which feels like a real bargain these days
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in
  • Live music adds a brilliant touch, with the singer really getting the crowd going and creating a lively atmosphere
  • It offers an authentic Irish pub experience in the heart of Belfast, away from the usual tourist spots, perfect for a genuine local vibe
  • The crowd tends to be a bit more relaxed and older, which means it's a great spot for a proper chat without the chaos
Cons
  • It closes at 11 PM, which might feel a tad early if you're hoping for a longer night out
  • There's no website or much online presence, so it's a bit tricky to check details or reviews before heading over
  • With only a moderate number of reviews, it doesn't seem as buzzing as some other pubs, which might mean it's not always packed

Proper Belfast boozer with realistic prices & not too far from the tourist traps. Well worth a visit for that true NI experience.

The staff and bouncer were very friendly. The service was good. There was live music and the singer also was friendly and spoke with us. The interior is more chic than many bars around. The crowd was slightly older than some other pubs (which I thought was a good thing not having a bunch of drunk 20-somethings around). They do have crisps as snack food.
