About This Pub
Ah, the Lord Nelson Hotel & Public House – it's one of those places in Scarborough that feels like a proper local gem, you know? From what I've gathered from the chats online, folks are generally chuffed with the improvements they've made; it's clean, pleasant, and just the ticket for a laid-back afternoon with a cold drink in hand. The staff come across as genuinely helpful and cheerful, which really makes you feel at home, and the food is a highlight – think hearty burgers and toasties that are both delicious and won't break the bank. It's got this family-friendly room upstairs, making it a nice choice if you're out with the little ones or just wanting a quiet corner. Prices for drinks are fair, especially considering how lively it can get with tourists about. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect; that karaoke bloke has a reputation for being a bit too cheeky or rude, which could spoil the mood if you're there for a singalong. Plus, while some appreciate the traditional, old-school vibe, others reckon it needs a bit of a modern lift to keep up with the times. Overall, if you're after a straightforward pub experience with good grub and a welcoming crowd, it's worth popping in – just keep an eye out for those minor niggles and you'll have a cracking time.

Was impressed with the improvements, was clean and pleasant. The same can't be said for the man in charge of karaoke, who was really rude about customers. I like a laugh, but he goes too far.
A very welcome rest on a hot April day. Nice pub and staff.
Perfect place to sit and have a chill and drink on a busy afternoon

New owners taken over, it’s a lovely little spot on the front. Upstairs has a family friendly room & serves food. We had a burger & toastie both were delicious.
Would recommend people to call in & try here
visited here for a few drinks with mates. It was quite busy for the afternoon. Drinks prices were reasonable considering it's packed with mainly tourists. Very old tho definitely needs a lift but I assume the owners want to keep it in such an old traditional way. I was speaking with one of the guys drinking there and he said the best thing about this place is the karaoke stuff and it's always full during that time.
The location is absolutely spot on, bang opposite the beach. If ever again in Scarborough will visit again.
