About This Pub

Ah, Lock & Quay – it's one of those hidden gems down by the water in Hayes that I've heard great things about from folks who've popped in. The food is a real standout; think flavourful dishes that are nicely presented and come in generous portions, whether you're after a classic meal or a traditional Sunday roast. The views over the waterfront are just brilliant, making it an ideal spot to kick back and enjoy a relaxed meal with mates or family. Service-wise, the team there seems top-notch, always helpful and quick to make sure everything's just right. On the flip side, a couple of people mentioned the drinks falling a bit flat – like that odd Pimms without the fruit, which sounds like a bit of a letdown. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in Greater London and fancy a bite, but maybe keep expectations in check for the beverages and factor in the cost. I'd say it's worth giving it a go for the good vibes and grub, as long as you're up for that balanced experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious and well-presented, with generous portions that really hit the spot – from classic meals to hearty Sunday roasts.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got stunning waterfront views that create a relaxing and inviting atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with a meal.
  • The place feels clean and welcoming, with a family-friendly vibe and options for takeaway or events if you're planning something special.
Cons
  • Some drinks don't quite live up to the hype, like the Pimms served without fruit, which left a few folks disappointed.
  • It can be a bit on the pricey side, so you might want to budget accordingly before heading out.

The food was tasty but the drinks left a lot to be desired. For the first time in my life I drank pimms without fruit, only with orange. this is some kind of misunderstanding. 🤷🤷🤷

Great pub near a marina bay. We ordered salt and pepper squid and Caesar salad with chicken. Both great. Service was prompt and friendly.

I rarely leave reviews, but I have been really impressed with Lock & Quay! This is my local restaurant and I have only discovered this gem recently. We went for a lovely walk around the Marina and visited this restaurant for a meal and a drink. The staff are very helpful and friendly, I have felt taken care of by the waiters :) We had steak which was one of the best steaks I've had in London, along with the stilton sauce which tastes HEAVENLY and goes really well with the steak. I would really recommend the surf and turf sirloin steak! My partner had the the blackgate ribeye which was lovely too. 🥩 To top up the lovely meal, the restaurant offers freshly made cupcakes which are THE BEST tasting cupcakes I've ever had - better than Lola's Cupcakes which I adore. I could not resist taking a second cupcake home 🏠 😋 The restaurant is located in the marina, in a very quiet area which is ideal. I would recommend this restaurant for a family day out, or a date, or really any occasion! 🌟 Photos don't describe the delicious food (it was taken in the evening). Cupcake photo is from home as I ate the first one too quickly 😆
