About This Pub
Ah, the Lion & Unicorn – it's one of those pubs that really sticks in your mind for all the right reasons, based on what mates have shared. From the get-go, the staff stand out as absolute gems; they're polite, helpful, and go the extra mile, whether it's sorting out a section for a surprise party or just making sure everyone's having a top time. The atmosphere is spot on too – think lively vibes with great music that takes you back to the good old days, making it a fab spot for a casual catch-up or something more special like a wedding do. And it's all at a fair price, so you won't feel short-changed after a few rounds. On the flip side, though, I've heard a couple of tales about things getting a bit brisk at last orders, where you might feel hurried out the door, which isn't ideal if you're winding down. Plus, there was that one mention of a less than pleasant interaction, hinting at potential for the odd disagreement, so it's not always smooth sailing. Overall, it's a solid choice for us pub enthusiasts – worth popping in for, as long as you keep an eye on the time and expect mostly cheerful company!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely brilliant and so welcoming – from what I've heard, they're always helpful and make you feel right at home, especially for special occasions like weddings or surprise parties.
-
It's got a lovely atmosphere that's perfect for a good night out; people rave about the vibe, with great music and a nostalgic feel that brings back fond memories.
-
Value for money is spot on – folks mention it's a decent spot without breaking the bank, making it ideal for a casual pint or a bigger gathering.
-
They're flexible with events, letting groups take over sections of the pub, which sounds like a real winner for family get-togethers or celebrations.
Cons
-
There might be a bit of a rush at closing time, with some feeling pushed out a tad too quickly, which could put a damper on the end of your evening.
-
Occasionally, there are reports of tensions or conflicts, like one person mentioning an unfriendly encounter, so it's worth keeping that in mind if you're after a completely relaxed vibe.
