About This Pub
Ah, The Liver – it's one of those neighbourhood pubs in Waterloo that just feels like a proper local haunt, you know? I've got to say, it's got that warm, buzzing atmosphere that's ideal for popping in after work or gathering with mates to watch the footie. The staff are often lovely and attentive, making it easy to settle in for a pint or two, and they've nailed the family-friendly vibe with outdoor seating and play areas for the little ones. Their menu of pub classics is pretty spot on too, especially for a traditional Sunday roast. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – there have been times when food service falls flat, like if the kitchen's short-staffed, which could leave you scrambling for alternatives. Prices can sneak up on you for add-ons, and while the place has charm, it does feel a bit stuck in the past sometimes. Overall, though, if you're after a straightforward, no-fuss spot in Liverpool, it's worth a visit – just keep your expectations in check for the grub and you'll likely have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons

It's a really welcoming family-friendly spot, perfect for a relaxed Sunday lunch or letting the kids play in the outdoor areas.
-
The service is generally spot on, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home.
-
They've got a solid selection of drinks at reasonable prices, and it's a great place to catch the big games on TNT Sport or Sky Sports.
-
The menu offers classic pub grub that hits the spot, especially if you're after something hearty and straightforward.
Cons
-
Food availability can be unreliable – like when the chef doesn't show up, leaving you high and dry for a meal.
-
Some staff might not always be the most welcoming, which can put a bit of a dampener on your visit.
-
Prices for certain items, such as extras on your meal, can feel a tad steep for what you get.
-
The place hasn't changed much over the years, so it might come across as a bit dated in spots.

Really lovely family-friendly boozer, great service, reasonable drink choices. Unfortunately, they had no food due to the chef not turning up!? We ate in Spoons and came back up for a pleasant afternoon in their beer garden. I wonder how much revenue they lost? A few of their other guests were equally as disappointed with no food. I hope they figure it out. I've awarded 5 stars based on what I experienced, which was great and will definitely return.
Last time I was in this pub it was July/Aug 1976 or c.49 years ago! Doesn’t seem to have changed that much - minor cosmetics. The staff were ok but not very welcoming - half the shops in the area were closed after the big night celebrating Liverpools EPL win so they could well have been suffering! It’s in a good spot and has a beer garden. Guinness was very good and the beef and ale pie was brilliant -gravy, mash and peas were average but - the pie made up for it. It had a good buzz for a Monday lunch time. Worth a visit for the pie, Guinness and beer garden.
A lovely family friendly pub for the perfect Sunday afternoon lunch, with outside seating and play areas for the kids. Have been eating here for many years and love it❤️👍
After communication from a representative of the Liver. I'm adding this to clarify my review.
For the information of the Liver's representatives, Swearing at motorbikes is my screen name and nothing to do with the establishment.
Staff are lovely, beer is to a good standard but.....
The food I experienced on my last visit was well below par.
The portions were miserly for the money.
The meats on the mixed grill were barely edible and definitely overcooked.
I could not cut the chicken but if I poked it with my fork it shattered.
Reminded me of the turkey from national lampoons Christmas vacation.
Try harder on your food, it's very simple.
Not worth the money and very disappointed as I quite often dined there.

Very nice steake chips peas onion rings pepper saurse and a pint of birra morretti .very nice staff .outdoor beer garden swings slide deffo coming again. The only thing letting it down was paying £31 for the meals with a tiny drop of pepper sauce.
