About This Pub
Ah, the Liberty Bell Beefeater – it's one of those reliable spots in Romford that you can count on for a decent pub grub experience without breaking the bank. I've got to say, the food really shines with their daytime deals, like grabbing eight mains for under £8 each from Monday to Friday – think classics like fish and chips or a juicy steak, and you can even tack on a starter or pud for a steal. The service often steals the show too; stories from folks like Kelli and Chris about their waiter Bailey making everything just right make it sound like a warm, welcoming place, especially if you're out with the family or a big group. It's got that lively vibe with plenty of seating and live sport on the telly, plus early breakfast options if you're an early riser. On the flip side, though, there are tales of the odd staff member being a bit off, like one review mentioning rude behaviour that left a sour taste, so it pays to hope for the best but be prepared. And while some dishes are spot on, others like the cheesy chips didn't quite live up to expectations, so maybe stick to the hits. All in all, it's a friendly local haunt that's worth a visit for a casual catch-up, but keep in mind it might not be the most memorable every time – still, the good bits definitely outweigh the bad for a straightforward night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is spot on, with tasty options like the gammon steak and chicken curry, and brilliant deals like eight mains under £8 during lunchtime – perfect for a budget-friendly bite.
-
Service is generally top-notch; staff like Bailey are incredibly attentive, polite, and go the extra mile to make your visit memorable, especially for families or groups.
-
It's a spacious spot with a welcoming atmosphere, ideal for work meals or catching up with mates, plus they show live sport and offer breakfast from as early as 6:30am.
-
Free parking for a couple of hours is a real bonus, making it easy to pop in without the hassle, and the location in Romford is quite convenient.
Cons
-
There have been a few instances of unprofessional behaviour from some staff, like poor communication or rudeness, which can really put a dampener on the evening.
-
Not every menu item hits the mark – for example, the cheesy chips were a bit of a letdown, so you might want to skip those.
-
With an overall rating around the 4 mark, it's solid but not outstanding, and you might encounter mixed experiences depending on the day.

I am Angelie and I am checked in room 103. This is my feedback for tonight:
I had a bad experience with the staff tonight one of them said her name is Steff/Steph and if I want to complain thats her name. I experienced poor communication from your staff, unprofessional behaviour, rude and made me felt I was too much. To the blonde lady on a cream top tonight (staff) sorry that when I initially entered the pub, because you were on a counter stood up and you looked like you werent busy I thought I can approach you immediately. I apologize I did not read the sign to wait before being seated and I admit that was my wrong I have been used to beefeater staff being so approachable on my previous check ins so when your voice was a bit raised and dismissive asking me to go back in that space to wait though theres no other customers waiting I apologized to you but I admit I was taken a back/surprised. To you steph the other staff who was there serving, I misheared you and thought you were asking me to write my phone number on a piece of paper and my name after I had finished eating and after I told you I wanted to pay you just walked away so I just wanted to ask you what is that for , you came back after a few minutes and explained that you need to double check if I had indeed paid for my meal deal I told you I was happy to escort you to hotel reception to confirm but you said you did not have time because you are busy, sorry I misheared you and thought you were asking for my home phone number and when you realized I got it wrong and told me it was my room number you wanted you walked out with an annoyed look on your face which made me felt stupid and confused. I had to go to you and found you on the counter with the staff with blonde hair looking annoyedand it seems you were talking about what halppened. I followed because you just walked out and you have a look on your face that made me felt a certain way (I felt stupid because I misheared you) and you did not said anything though I apologized you just walked out. When I was approaching you Im sorry I had expressed that you both are acting rude which made you steff/Steph hostile towards me telling me without hearing me that if I want to complain your name is Steph/Steff then you walked out again. Lady with the blonde hair had me explained myself to her without you Steff coz you already walked out infront of the counter when there are guest on my back left corner who can see and listen to what I am saying and what you guys were telling me. I said I just wanted apologise to me not hearing you properly but you Steph you made me feel stupid and embarassed walking away without saying anything, looking annoyed. I think that was unprofessional and made me felt I am too much and stupid. I hope you do not treat other customers how you treat me. Please communicate clearly next time and Do not just walk out. It was a bad experience that I hope would never happen to me again. My company has a business account with Premier inn so me and my colleagues checks in here and eats in there a lot.
I had a meal here with my family recently and nothing was too much trouble, even with slight ‘changes’ to what we wanted with our meals to what was advertised. We were served by Bailey and his attentiveness and service throughout our whole visit was great. We would definitely come back, and actually request Bailey as our waiter (if he was on shift)
Ten of us went to the Liberty Bell after seeing the brilliant panto at Brookside theatre last night. The service was excellent and Bailey our waiter was polite, efficient and very friendly. He was more than a waiter and made our visit one to remember. Several of us had come quite a distance and appreciated his efforts in getting our order spot on with a smile and a joke along the way. We all had a really good meal and were on our journeys back home feeling good. Thanks very much Bailey. If we are ever in the area again we will be sure to drop in again.
Popped in for lunch today, was pleasantly surprised. Ordered from the £8 menu and opted for a gammon steak and a chicken curry. Both were tasty.
Also had a side of cheesy chips, wouldn’t recommend.
Restaurant was mainly clean.
Service was brilliant, could not fault it.
Would recommend a visit.
Nice Beefeater. The food is spot on and the service is very good. Big place with plenty of seating, I see a lot of groups for work meals etc which brings a good atmosphere. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. Parking is free for a couple of hours but you must enter your registration number when you enter the restaurant. Plenty of parking spaces and the restaurant is nice and clean. This is my go to restaurant when I’m working this area - the breakfast is spot on too
