About This Pub

Ah, The Anchor Inn – it's one of those classic pubs in Burton-on-Trent that you hear about and think, 'Why not give it a go?' From what I've gathered from the chats online, it's got that warm, community feel where the staff can be absolute gems, making you feel like you're among mates from the get-go. The atmosphere really shines on busy nights with great entertainment that keeps things lively and memorable – imagine sinking into a good pint of Guinness while soaking up the buzz. But, let's be straight, it's not all smooth sailing; there are times when the service falls flat, like waiting forever for a drink or dealing with staff who might be a bit short-tempered, which could spoil the fun. Still, with a solid overall rating, it's worth popping in if you're local or passing through – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a cracking time.

Cons
  • There are reports of rude staff and long waits for drinks, which can put a damper on your evening.
  • Some issues with management and service inconsistencies, like unfair treatment that might make things feel a bit unreliable.
  • It can get quite busy, leading to frustrations if you're not prepared for the hustle.

Very rude staff, waited 20+ minutes for a drink, obviously upset on waiting so long, because it was fairly late, mildly busy, spent 20 yeats behind a bar far busier and the got abuse from the staff, how times have changed, if you want rude, want to wait, and don't mind attitude this is the place to go!!!! Won't be back, go get the world.. Youth of today Disappointed as.....

Well where do I even start I did work here and for the past 4 months. Both myself and another staff member Sacked by landlady JESS for having a drink outside the front door when we were a normal customer enjoying a night out causing no harm. Jess herself and other staff break license rules all the time for the same thing and other things as well. Jess goes behind the bar drunk serving drinks to herself and customers which goes against her own license and isn’t allowed. She’s a nasty individual and also I have her friends threatening to attack me which is disgusting. Marston head office, license head Helen will be coming to check cctv of license rules being broken by herself and others as well. She treats staff horrible.

Great little proper boozer in Burton. The landlady was friendly and obliging. Good pint of Guinness served. Locals were also friendly. Can imagine it's good fun at nighttime. We popped in Saturday lunchtime and it wasn't very busy. Not sure if they serve food.
