About This Pub

Ah, Lendal Cellars – what a delightful little spot it is, tucked away in the centre of York. I have to say, the first thing that struck me was its warm, historic vibe, with those vaulted ceilings and twinkling lights creating a really inviting atmosphere that's just perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. The staff are an absolute treat, always on hand with friendly chats and top-notch service that makes you feel right at home. Plus, the drinks selection is spot on, with things like mango and pineapple cider going down a storm, and the prices are fair enough to keep things accessible without breaking the bank. They've got some cracking deals too, like student discounts and lunch specials that add a nice touch for anyone watching their pennies. On the other hand, it does tend to be on the quieter side sometimes, which is great if you're after a peaceful catch-up, but it might not thrill those seeking a more energetic crowd. And while the underground setup is charming, it could feel a bit cosy for some, especially if you're not keen on smaller spaces. All in all, it's a solid choice for a laid-back evening, and I'd definitely recommend giving it a go if you're in the area for a proper pub experience.

  • Friendly staff who go the extra mile, providing excellent service that leaves you with a smile.
  • A cracking selection of drinks, including unique ciders and affordable options – nothing beats a pint at a good price.
  • Plenty of facilities like being dog-friendly and having a beer garden, perfect for enjoying a drink outdoors.
  • Great deals and events, such as student discounts and seasonal specials, making it easy on the wallet.
Cons
  • It can be a bit quiet at times, which is lovely for a relaxed chat but might not hit the spot if you're after a lively buzz.
  • The underground location is unique, but it could feel a tad enclosed for those who prefer more open spaces.
  • Food service wraps up at 8pm, so it's not the best choice if you're fancying a late-night bite.

Me and my husband is on tour in York and found this bar as I googled live entertainment pub near where we were staying unfortunately when we get there the place is so quiet and I guess it was just us plus another one table but I must say the place is really a hidden quaint pub its cosy and instagrammable! We had 2 drinks and had to move to another one for sone live music as it was a bank holiday.

Books for Valentines dinner and was not disappointed. Drinks are drinks, but the meal was fabulous. Service was excellent, and Natasha, our server, was brilliant. Definitely recommend..

Fantastic bar to have a quiet drink (Monday) with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. The mango and pineapple cider is amazing. Good prices £12 for 2 pints. Definitely a spot I would come back to again and again.

Went to York on a weekend. It was super busy. Found this place using google Maps. It looked pretty unique. On entering, it seemed fairly standard, but heading down the steps, it opens up into a really cool area that has a lovely atmosphere. It's a Greene King pub, so you can order from the app. Service was a touch slow, but it was busy. The food was very nice, but not stunning. Overall, it came to £32 for 2 mains with drinks, so it's pretty good value. Well worth a visit just for the ambience.

Heard great things about this pub and wow what a unique pub it is, located entirely underground with large vaulted ceilings decorated with strings of white lights. I came here for flat ciders, they had 3 on when I visited. Free Greenking Wifi is 40Mbps Down/20Mbps Up. Food is served Noon to 8pm, Dog friendly. Well worth a visit to see this unique pub, Will be back soon.
