About This Pub

Ah, the Legh Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a solid go-to in Sale, you know? From what I've gathered, it's got this great mix of modern vibes and those little original touches that make it cosy without being stuffy. I love how they've nailed the drinks side of things; their cask ales and lagers are spot on, and there's a decent selection of everything else to keep the group happy. The food menu is pretty versatile too, with pub favourites, pizzas, and even vegan options, plus it's served all week, which is handy for a spontaneous catch-up. They're big on entertainment as well, with live sports on the telly and events like karaoke that can really liven up an evening. The beer garden's a nice bonus for sunnier days, and it's thoughtful touches like being child and dog-friendly that make it feel inclusive. On the flip side, though, a couple of reviews mentioned the food not always living up to the hype – things like the breakfast pizza needing a bit more TLC in the kitchen, or it feeling a tad ordinary for a family outing. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.4, it's clear most folks have a good time here. If you're after a straightforward, budget-friendly spot for drinks and a bite with mates, I'd say give it a go – just keep expectations realistic for the grub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The Legh Arms is a welcoming spot with a spacious and modern interior that still keeps those charming original features, making it feel like a proper local haunt.
  • They've got a fantastic selection of top-notch cask ales, award-winning lagers, and a good range of wines and spirits to suit all tastes.
  • Food-wise, there's something for everyone with pub classics, vegan options, handmade pizzas, and even kids' menus, all served up seven days a week.
  • It's brilliant for catching live sports on the big screens with Sky Sports and BT, and they host fun events like karaoke or comedy nights to keep things lively.
  • The beer garden is a lovely spot for relaxing, especially next to the bowling green, and it's great that it's child-friendly and dog-friendly in certain areas.
Cons
  • Some dishes, like the breakfast pizza, haven't quite hit the mark for everyone, with a few folks noting it needs a bit more care in the kitchen to bring out the best flavours.
  • The atmosphere can feel a bit like your average pub – nothing wrong with that, but it might not be the first choice for a special family meal, as one review mentioned.
  • While the food looks tempting, it's sometimes described as 'bought-in', which means it might not always feel as freshly made as you'd hope for the price.

Handy location on the main road. Deceptively large on the inside. Didn't have food, but every plate coming out of the kitchen looked fab. Football on the large screen TV.

Had the best Christmas dinner in the Legh Arms today with the family. The food was amazing, the staff were outstanding and couldn’t do enough for us, and Sami was extremely attentive making our day that little bit more special. We’ll definitely be booking again next Christmas Day with even more of the family to enjoy your festive celebrations. Thank you for a fabulous day, you’re doing a fantastic job Sami & team 🥂

Big old pub with bowls green behind. Plenty of seating and a reasonably pleasant atmosphere. Served quickly and with a smile. Prices as to be expected. The menu looked good but I didn't have time to eat. usual selection of piu fare and about £20.00 to £25.00 a head looks about average price for the area.

Just a classic pub with bought in food. 'Ultimate bought in burger' beef, buttermilk chicken, and beef brisket bbq. 13 quid, it filled a hole. You wouldn't take your family here for meal. Pint and food. Atmosphere was like the jockey 🏇.

Had a breakfast pizza, wasn't as good as I thought it would be after reading the menu description. Needs a bit of tlc when cooking! Like for example, if you chuck the black pudding in the pizza, it won't taste as nice if first u fry it to let it release its magical flavour. My mate asked a curry and it was fairly small. Other than that, clean and quiet place in the afternoon.
