About This Pub
Ah, Fibber Magee's – what a gem of an Irish pub tucked away in Sale. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that genuine, heartfelt hospitality that's hard to beat; the staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and making sure you're looked after. Folks are raving about the Guinness and other drinks, which come at prices that won't break the bank, especially with those happy hour deals and Monday specials. The live trad music on Fridays is an absolute highlight, turning the place into a hub of craic and good times that really captures the spirit of an authentic Irish spot. It's also heartening to see them supporting local suppliers, which adds to that community feel. On the downside, it's a cosy little space, so on peak nights it can feel a bit squished, and the operating hours do look a touch muddled from what's out there, which might catch you out if you're planning ahead. All in all, though, it's a brilliant addition to the area for anyone seeking a relaxed pint and some cheerful company without the hassle of trekking into the city – I'd say give it a go and see for yourself!
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel like catching up with old mates.
-
They serve what many are calling the best Guinness in town, along with other cracking traditional drinks at fair prices.
-
Live traditional music on Friday nights adds a real buzz and gets everyone joining in for a proper sing-along.
-
It's got a strong community spirit, supporting local businesses and welcoming all sorts, even the furry four-legged ones.
-
Special deals like Monday Madness with pints for just £3.95 make it an affordable spot for a cheeky midweek pint.
Cons
-
As a smaller venue, it can get a bit packed on busier evenings, which might make it tricky to find a seat.
-
The operating hours listed seem a tad confusing with multiple entries, so it's worth double-checking before heading out.
-
Being relatively new to the UK scene, it might not have the same depth of events or familiarity as more established pubs just yet.

Brilliant Irish pub. Such a welcome addition to sale moor and the staff are lovely. Make sure you go on a Friday night for the live music!
Great little spot with very friendly staff and amazing Guinness
We absolutely love this tiny pub in Sale Moor - in the last 24 months we stopped going to Manchester in favour of staying in Sale and drinking in the bars in Stanley Square, however now it will be even more difficult to leave our own village. The atmosphere is good. The gentleman who served us was great and convenience of being in Sale Moor was amazing.
The reason for not 5 stars - get some heating, last night 8th Jan the bar was cold people were wearing ski clothing and no one removed their jackets. Not a single noticeable heater. We got that cold we cut short our evening and regrettably left. Please even if just for quiet cold nights get some heaters - 2 or 3 oil radiators would make a huge difference.
Dog friendly = a big tick from me.
We still love it.
First time visiting greeted by a lovely atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Great “Craic” with a busy atmosphere. Quite possibly one of if not the best Guinness in Mcr without the price tag. Caffreys is excellent too. Other options are just as good for those who don’t like the traditional drinks. Thanks guys!
It's brilliant to be able to welcome Fibber Magee's to Sale. A great addition. We have visited a couple of times and left with new friends. The welcome was second to none with the incredibly friendly and attentive bar staff. We are recommending to our friends and family both near and far. When visiting Manchester you simply need to pop in. The Guinness was superb in original Guinness glasses and the perfect texture and temperature. This will be most definitely our pub of pubs going forward. Music and great craic. Food will be there soon and totally dog friendly. There are no strangers here just friends who haven't met ! How very true. SLAINTE & Thank you
