About This Pub
Oh, what a gem the Left Luggage Room is, tucked into the heart of Monkseaton station – it's one of those places that just feels special from the moment you step in. I have to say, the craft beers on offer are truly something to rave about; they've got this brilliant selection of local brews that are served just right, and it's clear the folks behind the bar know their onions when it comes to recommending the perfect pint. The atmosphere is spot on too – all about good chats and that unique, quirky setting in what used to be a luggage room, without any of the usual pub distractions like TVs blaring away. Pop outside on a nice day, and you've got this lovely sheltered seating area that's ideal for soaking up the sun and watching the world go by, all while enjoying reasonably priced drinks that don't sting the wallet. But, fair's fair, it's not for everyone; if you're after a straightforward pint of the usual stuff or fancy catching a game, you might find it a tad lacking. And with the metro trains passing nearby, there can be a bit of background noise that interrupts the calm every so often. Still, for those who fancy a proper, unhurried pub experience with top-notch service and a focus on quality, it's well worth seeking out – I'd definitely pop back for another round with mates.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The selection of craft beers is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of local brews that really hit the spot for anyone who appreciates a good pint.
-
The staff are so friendly and know their stuff – they're always up for a chat and happy to recommend something new, making you feel right at home.
-
That outdoor seating area is a real treat, especially on a sunny evening; it's sheltered, away from the hustle, and perfect for a relaxed catch-up with mates.
-
The atmosphere is wonderfully quirky and unique, set in a historic old luggage room at the station – it's all about great conversation without any distractions.
-
Prices are pretty reasonable for the quality on offer, so you can enjoy a top-notch drink without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
It sticks to craft beers and finer spirits, so if you're after something mainstream like a cheap lager, you might be out of luck.
-
There's no telly around, which means it's not the place to pop in for a match – more for those cosy chats than big-screen action.
-
Being right by the metro station, you might hear the odd train rumbling through, which could disrupt the peace every now and then.
-
The focus is quite niche on specialist drinks, so it might not appeal as much if you're not particularly into craft beer or want a broader menu.

One of the greatest pubs to have ever been created!
Great pints, great service, vibe is always perfect and in the summer the outside seating is a great spot for people watching!
The staff know their stuff - always happy to recommend a pint. They also sell loads of gins, vodka, wine, soft drinks and a cracking selection of crisps and pork pies.
Dog friendly with water and treats always available.
Genuinely, if you like a pint, look no further :)
Quirky railway station tap, it has to be visited to appreciate, decent selection of local beers. The graffiti in the gent loo is interesting.
Friendly service. Lovely beer, well looked after.
Nice outdoor seating area by the platform (good plastic "glasses" provided for outdoor drinking) sheltered above and from the wind but the sunshine reaches it in the evenings, free of car fumes and quiet save for the metro passing every so often.
Will visit again.
As a seasoned Metro traveller, having a station pub available is a dream come true - and the Left Luggage is one of the greatest pubs in the whole of Newcastle at that.
Lovely heated outside seating area, cool interior and a great bar that serves local breweries and an impressive selection of Whisky and Spirits.
It's always packed full of regulars and locals (who are always friendly) and whilst it can get a bit crowded inside sometimes - it has a tremendous atmosphere and great vibe.
A Monkseaton institution and a great way to end or begin a Metro journey.
Visited while stopping in Monkseaton for a few days.
What an excellent find too ! - Great location, lovely ambience inside & a superb selection of Real Ales 🍺
Very reasonably priced too.
