Gilbert & Smith's in Whitley Bay

Good selection of real ale.

One of the best bars in Whitley Bay - brilliant for events, socials, or just a pint with the dog. Genuinely one of my favourite bars in Whitley Bay. I regularly use Guilbert and Smiths for my company socials – they’ve got a private room to the side that can be closed off for events, which works perfectly. Once your event wraps up, they reopen it and the place flows back into one large, open space with loads of seating. The staff are absolutely class - Chloe, Fin, and India (if I’ve got that right!) are always smiling, welcoming, and happy to help. They really look after you, whether it’s a private hire or just a quiet drink. My customers always comment on how much they love the place too. Massive shoutout for their beer selection – the recent addition of Budvar and Budvar Black is brilliant. I don’t know anywhere else in Whitley Bay serving both, and it’s a proper touch of quality. They’ve got a shuffleboard table tucked away too - just ask at the bar for the bits and it’s good to go. Great for a bit of fun without feeling like you’re in a games bar. It’s also dog friendly, which is a big bonus. Our black boxer, Sophie, absolutely loves it here – and so do we. Cracking place for a drink, an event, or just hanging out. Highly recommend.

I only stayed for a short while so will be back, the to sample the three local ales on the pumps. It's a nice venue with a good atmosphere.

Doubled the size. Bar was just big enough for the first room. Expect a queue, with nowhere to queue. Staff are nice enough, just can't cope and god help you if someone orders a cocktail (every second person)

I consider this the best bar/pub in Park View. It open Weekdays, 4pm until 11.00pm. Now under new Management, as the brilliant, enthusiastic Erin, has just left to further her career in Sales for this region. I wish her all the very best of prosperity in her new role. Well done Erin. G&S have an extensive range of gins and spirits, so if you enjoy cocktails, this is your bar to visit. If you haven’t been yet, treat yourself.
