About This Pub
Ah, Front Street Tap House – what a gem in Whitley Bay! I've got to say, chatting about this place feels like sharing a pint with mates over a good laugh. From what I've seen, it's all about that excellent beer selection; they've got kegs, casks, and even local brews that make you feel right at home in the North East. It's not just the drinks that shine – the prices are fair and won't leave you rummaging for change, and the little touches like the Nintendo games add a fun, relaxed energy that's hard to beat. It's conveniently tucked away with easy parking and near the Metro, so it's ideal for a quick stop or a longer session. On the flip side, though, it doesn't kick off until the afternoon, which might cramp your style if you're an early bird, and it's closed one day a week, so you'll want to check the times first. Plus, with the website being a bit finicky, it could be worth popping in person to get the full picture. Overall, it's a solid spot that does beer proud, but like any place, it's not perfect – still, I'd reckon it's worth a visit for a balanced, enjoyable night out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
They've got a fantastic selection of beers, including loads of local ales and stouts that really hit the spot – perfect for anyone who loves exploring new brews.
-
Prices are spot on, not too steep at all, making it a great choice for a casual night out without breaking the bank.
-
The atmosphere is brilliant; it's a cosy little spot with fun extras like a Nintendo setup and games such as Tony Hawk, which adds a playful twist to your visit.
-
Location is ace – easy parking right outside and just a short walk from the Monkseaton Metro, so it's super convenient to pop in after a day out.
-
With a stellar 4.7 rating from plenty of happy visitors, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a top-notch experience for beer enthusiasts.
Cons
-
It only opens from 2 PM, which might be a bit late if you're hoping for a lunchtime pint or an early start to your evening.
-
They're not open every day of the week, so you'll have to plan around that if you're keen on a mid-week visit.
-
The online presence is a tad limited – it's mostly on Facebook, and I had a spot of bother accessing more details, which could make it tricky to check things out in advance.
-
As a tap house, it seems focused on drinks rather than food, so if you're after a full meal, you might need to head elsewhere afterwards.

Very good selection of beers not so expensive. Best tap near north shields. You can park the car right in front of the pub.
The best tap room around North sheilds with best collection of Ales and stouts.
Great little craft beer bar with a good selection of keg and cask
Nice little tap room, two minutes from Monkseaton Metro.
Good choice of ales, and there is a Nintendo set up in back to play.
Superb local tap house. Great range of beers on keg, cask and in the fridge. Love that they often have a few local beers on as a staple, I'm new to these parts so I'm pleased to be able to support local beer and business. Highly recommend, especially if you fancy a game Tony Hawk. 🍻
